STAFFA - Kay Sinale and Joyce
Miller hosted the Cahadian Indus-
tries meeting of the Staffa Women's
Institute at the townshiphall on
Wednesday evening May 1.
Guest speaker for the evening was
the editor of the Mitchell Advocate,
Andy Bader, who gave the members
a good understanding of what was
involved in the publication of a
weekly newspaper.
Fourteen members answered the
roll call by telling Andy what they
would like to see different in their
local paper. Andy was introduced -by
Kay Smale and thanked by Joyce
Miller.
Joyce opened the meeting with a
poem "In this World". Kay Smale
gave a reading "No excuse Sunday"
and Doris Miller gave some jokes.
Roberta Templeman presided for
the business, with Lillian Douglas
giving the minutes of the April
meeting and read the correspon-
dence. Kay Smale gave the treasur-

Middlesex Tri -County District Sen-
ior Games were held June 26, 27 at
various locations. District winners
by points were Mitchell with 112;
Seaforth 53; Stratford 51 and Dash-
wood at 49.
Some of the categories won by
Dashwood and Area contestants in-
cluded the Softball throw ladies -
1st Shirley Tiernan; walking - 1st
Doris Peebles; contract bridge - 3rd
- Vesta Miller and Pauline Guenth-
er; horseshoes - 2nd Elgin Kipfer,
Leeland Desjardine; crokinole - 1st
Lloyd and Rose Rader; swimming -
3rd Stan Preszcator; golfing - 3rd
Bill Chandler and bowling - 7 out
of 22 teams, Gerrie Stade, Isabelle
Becker, Josephine, Dietrich, Charlie
Bright and. Bill Coleman.
Calvary United Church service
was taken by Rev. Bob Burton,
Bayfield.
It was announced there would be a
combined congregational meeting at
Emmanual, Zurich, July 9, at
12:30 to discuss the fall ministry of
an interim pastor, also, the need of
a church secretary.
If anyone is interested in purchas-
ing the few extra pews and odd
chairs that are available - please
contact Bill Weber.
The next Sunday service will be
conducted by Rev. David Mac who
is a United Church clergyman origi-
nally from the Congregational
Church in Australia. Services are at
9:45 a.m. in Dashwood and 11:15
a.m. in Zurich.
Guests with Aldene Wolfe during
the holiday weekend were Eric
Wolfe, Christy; Tracy Wolfe and
Steven Hillman, London, Tom and
Pat Wolfe, Mark, Adan?, Stephanie,
Dorchester. Michael Parker is stay-
ing with his grandmother for a
week.

NancyBecker and Bernice Boyle
visited with Barbara Mclsaac, Mt.
Clemens, Michigan during the holi-
day weekend.
Harold Patterson received word,
July 2 that his brother Mac died in
Hemingford, Quebec. Several mem-
bers have left for the funeral.

Roberta thanked everyone who
participated at the District annual
and also thanked Joyce Vivian for
getting the programs printed and
distributed prior to ourmeeting.
Members were reminded that June
is promotion month for the Wom-
en's Institute and everyone was
asked to contribute suggestions for
a tour or bus trip.
Our Tweedsmuir Curator has had
25 copies of the update on Belle
Campbell's book on Hibbert. This
covers from 1952 to the late 1970s.
Anyone interested may purchase a
copy for $5.00 each.
Kay Smale reported on the Dis-
trict Annual. Kay and Joyce served
a dainty lunch.

Many from this community were
guests at the Templeman - Boni-
kowsky wedding at- Templehaven
Farms on Saturday evening and lat-
er at the reception at the communi-
ty centre in Mitchell.
Mr. and Mrs. Bunty Swan, Scot-
land, Christopher Swan Graham,
Lynn and Kayleigh Abbott all ar-
rived from England on Friday and
are presently visiting with Rob and
Bev Templeman and family and
John and Roberta Templeman. Also
visiting with John and Roberta and
Doris Miller are Jim and Eileen
Greer, Ormstown Quebec.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Albert Visscher on the birth of their
daughter.
A good crowd attended the annual
ham and strawberry supper in Hib-
bert United Church on Wednesday
evening.
John and Roberta Templeman at-
tended service at the Knox Presby-
terian Church, Goderich on Sun-
day, when Rev. D.R. Nicholson
baptized Meaghan Darlene Amelia
Ellison, daughter of Don and Dar-
lene • Ellison, Goderich and were
later guests for lunch with the Elli-
son family.
Doris Miller visited on Sunday
with Jean and Bob Mayer Exeter.
Rob, Bev, Carrah, Cain and Co-
hen Templeman; visited on Sunday
with Chuck and Dorothy Ebel,
Goderich.
A large crowd attended the retire-
ment party for Robert Sadler on
Saturday evening in the Crystal
Palace, Mitchell.
Cliff and Margaret Miller attend-
ed a Ballantyne Family Reunion
on Sunday.
Donald and Isobel Coburn, of
Keswick New Brunswick, visited
on Sunday with John and Roberta
Templeman.
Cromarty Presbyterian folk will
