There were 25 guests present. - President Shirley Cooper read a poem "When God Crcated.Moth- ers." The roll call was answered by ' "naming a by-product of corn." There were many different answers. Last year's officers, Marie Brock, Leona Morley ad Olga Hem, were Saintsbury by Mrs. Heber Davis SAINTSBURY - Holy Coin- munion service was held at St. Pat - ricks church Sunday with Rev.:Be- verley Wheeler in charge. Mrs.• Rose. Cunningham was server and Pamela Greenlee read the lessons. Rev. Wheeler read a letter from • the bishop thanking Mrs. Hugh Da- viS and theu ils of the Sunday P School for their donation to the hunger fund. The money was raised at the muffin luncheon held recently aftcr church servi c —Wc praised them for their efforts. - During the children's focus Rev. Wheeler explained the birthday of the church, she had a birthday cake and candles. The congregation sang happy birthday and the pupils blew the candles out. Then they went ,out for classes. She took her text from the Gos- pel and entreated all to share the Spirit in their hearts. Service ncxt Sunday is planned for 8:30 a.m. Personals Last Tuesday evening Mary Jef- feries was hostess to the members of the A.C.W. The scripture and prayers was taken by Nadine Bedell and was followed by a roll call with a verse to Mothers and all cnjoycd a social hour. Thursday evening the St. Pat- rick's board of management along with rector Rev. Beverley Wheeler met at the home of Hugh and Hazel Davis. - Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Carroll en- tertained their family to dinner on Mothers Day, also Harry and Eileen Carroll. Following service at Centralia church the Kendalls cnjoycd dinner out. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Davis enter- tained their family Heather and Bob MacGillivray and children, Suzanne Davis and children and Mary Davis to dinner following church service. Michael was ill with a bad cold. - Mrs. Wayne Love and girls, Var- na visited her parents Mr. and Mrs: Clarence Davis on Sunday. - Daley's Weekly Comments By Sid Daley presented with gilts by Marjorie Johns, Marjorie Dykepan and Jean Lynn. Members were reminded that the District Annual will be held at Sea - forth Presbyterian church on May 18 with registration at 6:30. The three delegates will be Olga Hcrn, Shirley Cooper and Marjorie Johns or Marie Brock. Marie Brock and another member will attend .a meting on recycling being arranged by Usborne Town- ship council on May 16. Ann Delbridge, a senior member of the 4-H girls, told of their trip tA' the Milton Agriculture Museum re- cently. Other members also added. some things, as well as the visit to Don Dearing's farm. • Thc"4-H members had their knit- ted items and record books on dis- play. ' The Women's Institute mem- bers enjoyed looking at these articles. LUCAN . It's- yo ho to the Falls we go!!! That's Niagara Falls - Honeymoon City. .However, it won't be any honeymoon for Len Maslen, Jim Murphy and Sid Daley for .they will be representing the Lucan Legion at the Provincial Convention, Ontario Command of the Royal Canadian Legion which begins Sunday, May 14 through Thursday,: May 18. Between ses= sions try to get in a little sightsee• - ing chaps and do have.a successful trip. Isabelle Fletcher read an article on "Oh What Fun it is to Ride," This was a story of a wild ride on a snowmobile. MarionSkinner had a reading "What is a Boy?" Everyone present had apart in Marjorie Johns story of "The Fidget Family." This got everyone moving and listening very closely, - Marie Brock followed with a read- ing "What is a Girl?" This an the one read by Marion proved to be fairly accurate. The program ended with Jean ,Lynn conducting a contest on the townships, villages, towns of Hu- ron County. Most people present proved to be quite knowledgeable about the county we live in. A so- cial time, followed. Baptism During the Mother's Day church service Shauna Diane, daughter of Jim and Marilyn Skinner, was bap- tized by Rev. Sheila Macgregor. Dust off those rollers By Lynne Farquhar EXETER - Dust off those wheels 'cuz it's time to "Rock and Roller Skate" at the South Huron Recreation Centre. Skat- ing will operate on Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. this season start- ing May 18 and we'll continue through the summer months as long as there's enough interest. Admission price will remain the same at $1.50 and skate ren- tals are also available at $1.50 for those who don't have their own skates. Skaters are encouraged to bring their favourite tapes but are re- minded to label them so they can be returned to the proper person at the end of the night. Many familiar faces will be back at the Exeter swim pool this summer. Marilyn Hamilton will head up the staff this year assisted by Dave Josephson. Instructor - guard duties will be handled by Brenda Vanderlaan, Kim Lingard, Sue Coates and Jodi Home. The staff welcomes newcomer Tobi Taylor who will be, filling .. the part-time guard position. Les- sons will once again be -offered in two week sessions for our pre- school program, three week ses- sions for the Red Cross program (yellow to white) and four weeks for-, advanced lifesaving- instuctional courses. All lessons begin on Monday, July 3, • Pool registration for the up- coming season will be held on Wednesday, June 14 from 7-9 p.m. at the Recreation Centre. In order to make registration fair for everyone involved, we will not accept any registrations over the - phone or prior to the registration date. If you are unable to attend registration, you can.re inter at the pool on June 28, 29 or 30 from9-noon. With*a little co-operation from the weatherman, most summer outdoor,sports organizations are in full swing. If you missed reg- istration and are still interested in signing up, please call the Recre- ation Centre and we'll forward you to the proper contact person for your sport. Tennis club memberships are now available at the Recreation Centre at discount rates if pur- chased prior to May 31. Member- ships can be obtained for singles, couples, family, student, junior and over 60's. Members will re- ceive a shoe tag and a key giving access to the courts.
