Rev. Carter chose as her .topic "Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness". During the service William Gar- tley was received as a new member by transfer. Centralia candidates for confirmation were Rebecca Frances Harrett, Randy Glen Johnson, Mar- garet Ann Wilson and Norman Ed- gar Wilson. The Sacrament of Holy Communion was also held. . On Thursday evening of this week the Junior Young people will meet at Centralia church 6:30 to 8 p.m. Guest speaker will be Helen Eccles speaking on stress. On Sunday May 28, The Good Family of Exeter will be guest speakers at Zion Church at 10 a.m. Centralia congregation is invited to worship at Zion that day. The Goods will speak on their recent visit to Bangladesh. A light lunch will follow. At Heywoods restaurant on Mon- day, May 8 prizes were won by High Score - Helen MacDonald, Murray Carter; Lone Hands - Lula Culbert, Charlie Rollings; and Low score Betty Guilfoyle, Derwin Beat - son. Neil's schoolhouse euchre had nine tables playing with prizes go- ing to: High scores - Mary Kooy, Dashwood by Bernice Boyle DASHWOOD - This Saturday, the Teen Missions committee will' hold their yard and bake sale on the Calvary United Church lawn from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. In case ,of inclement weather the sale will be transferred to Hoffman's ambulance garage. Ladies' Guild The Lutheran Ladies Guild enter- tained 100 Mother and Daughters at their annual pot luck dinner May 9. Levonc Ballagh, columnist for the Wingham Advance and Times was the guest speaker and spoke on -the true meaning of Mothers and Daughters. For the roll call each lady brought an old hat she had worn and explained why she had kept it. The next meeting on June 13 will be the Birthday Party at .the Blue Water Rest Home. Personals Hugh and Bernice Boyle visited last week with Rev. Barbara Laing - and Rev. Orville and Nancy James and family in Pt. Colborne. Barba- ra is assistant minister with Orville at the Calvary United Church. Fraser Boyle returned Wednesday to Vancouver and Scott and Mary Anne and Shannon Boyle to North , Bay after attending the wedding of Trevor Boyle and Wendy Smith, May6.. Nancy Becker, Laurie Tuckey, Cathy Skinner visited Barbara Mcl- saac in Mt. Clemens, Michigan for Mothers Day weekend. Joe and Marilyn Zimmer enter- tained her mother Frieda Callaghan, her sister and family, Irene and Bob Brooks of St. Thomas. • • The Huron County library ex- changed the Dashwood branch li- brary books last week. Clandeboye CLANDEBOYE - The May meeting of the Clandeboye Wom- en's Institute was held at Brinsley United Church with newly elected president, Marion Hodgson in charge. The 4-H Homemaking club girls, thcir mothers, and leaders, were guests. Thefoll call "Confess your favourite junk food" was an- swered by 13 W.I. members as well as the guests. The motto "Snacks Stretch Slacks," was in readings "Dict Daze" and "Want to Diet" given by Hazel Williams and Hazel Cunning-. ham. The 4-H girls reported that 19 members completed the project "Working With Wool, from Fleece to Yarn". On display were their knitted arti- cles, made during the project, also their 4-H Record books. They conducted a game - Win, Lose and Draw, which was based on terms used in knitting. It was a lot of fun and a lot of laughs. Delegates were chosen to attend North Middlesex at Poplar Hill. Clandeboye W.I. are responsible for entertainment in the afternoon. Hazel Williams reported on reser- vations at Huron Country Play- house for the Institute to attend as a group on August 16, to see "The King and I." A gift was presented to Elsie Lc- wis in appreciation of her term as president. A delicious lunch was served and a social time spent to- gether. Roland Neil; Lone hands - Ruth GueSt;'Ed Armstrong; Low score - Kay Armstrong, Harold Hardy. This was the last euchre for the sea- son. Hope to see you all in the fall. Personals Dinner guests with Tom and I on Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Her- man Pauptet of Summerside, Prince Edward Island and Carl Pauptet of Toronto. Tom and Herman were next door neighbours in Holland be- fore they both came to Canada about 61 years ago. On Friday visiting were Marinus Pol of Holland, Marie Veel, Lucan, Adrian Bax of Parkhill, and Mary Davis and Helen MacDonald of Lu - can. Each received a rose. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Preszcator at- tended the 18th birthday and gradua- tion of their granddaughter Angela Dallier, Kitchener. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. John Arbo and family, Woodham, Miss Jody Glan- ville, Parkhill, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Farr and Jeremy, St. Thomas, Mrs. Loma Barnes and Jenna, Ken Wem-. ham and Carrie Thedford and Mrs. and Mrs. Mike Durrell and James, Walton. It was held at the home of Ange- la's parents Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Dal- lier, Kitchener. Angela received many gifts and thanked everyone. Mr. Dallier's family also attended. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Pertschy cele- brated their 35th wedding anniver- sary on Saturday at their home. Family members helped them cele- brate. Their anniversary date is May 15.
