ing and swimming at the Grand Bend beach Sunday. The pair said the water was cold and still
"needs a little work, but should be ready for the May 22 weekend." The pair didn't mind being the
only ones brave enough to test the water and sand Sunday and also brought their frisbee and base-
ball gloves along for the fun.

GRAND BEND - After six years.
of providing beautiful concerts for
the local community, the Grand
Bend Concert Association has dis-
banded. There was a decline in sub-
scriptions last year, with barely
enough to pay the artists.perform-
ing, and attendance at the concerts .
was down from previous years.
The subscription drive for 1989-
90 was very unpromising, pointing
to possible deficits for the new sea-
son. Deficit spending may be ac-
ceptable in government, but Con-
cert Association president Nan
Freele reluctantly announced their
decision to dissolve the committee.
All money received from subscrib-
ers for the new season will be re-

Dale Ducharme and Mamie Walker.
Their coach is teacher Barbara Gold-
ing. The team travelled to Owen
Sound in the van of Philip Walker
last Friday, to the competition in
Owen Sound Collegiate Institute.
They defeated Owen Sound, Sacred
Heart Walkerton, and Centre Duffe-

music lovers in the Bend area, and -
the Association also provided bonus
concerts featuring local groups, like
the St. Marys Choir, the Goderich
Harboraires, and the Forest High
School Music Department.

PUBLIC MEETING
CONCERNING A PROPOSED
ZONING BY-LAW AMENDMENT
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Village of Grand Bend will hold a public
meeting onThursday, May 18, 1989 at 7:00 p.m. at the Grand Bend Municipal Office (Council
Chambers), 4 Ontario Street, North, to consider proposed zoning by-law amendment under Sec-
tion 34 of the Planning Act, 1983.
This meeting constitutes the second public meeting to be held with regard to a proposed zoning
by-law amendment to rezone approximately 4 hectares (10 acres) of landdescribed as part of Block
'F', Registered Plan 2 and Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, & 6 Plan 25R1747 located north of Lake Road and west
of Alberta Street (as shown below) from "Development (D) Zone" to "Multiple Family Residential
(R3) Zone" and "Commercial Tourist (CT) Zone". The proposed by-law would have permitted a 7
storey apartment building on Block A, cluster houses on Block B, townhouses on Block C, a small
commercial development on Block D, and public open space on Block E.
The council had determined that due to changes in the proposed zoning by-law amendment a sec-
ond public meeting should be held pursuant to Section 34(16) of the Planning Act. The proposed
changes ictclude:
1. Reducing the height of the proposed apartment building from 7 storeys to 6 storeys.
2. Reducing the total number of residential units from 150 to 132 units.
3. Increasing the setbacks along the north and northwest sides of the property.
It is proposed to phase the development through the use of holding zones.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written .or oral representation either in
support of or in opposition to the proposed zoning by-law amendments.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION relating to the proposed zoning bt law amendment is available at the
