Marsh speaks at Zurich awards banquet

ZURICH - A good turnout auend-
ed the Minor Athletic's Annual
Awards Night and Banquet at the
Community Centre last Wedries-
day.
Special guest speaker was Brad
Marsh of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Scouts
Eight Zurich Boy Scouts and
leader Hub Thiel were among those
who took part in the Great Ride for
Cancer at the Pinery on Sunday af-
ternoon.
The Scouts were also busy recent-
ly when they went out planting
trees around at some local farms.
This past Saturday the Zurich
Brownies were around town selling
Girl Guide Cookies.
St. Boniface
On Tuesday evening the grade 7
and 8 pupils of St. Boniface and St.
Peter's Parish received the sacra-
ment of Confirmation. Bishop Hen-
ry was the celebrant, from Windsor.
Bingo
Winners at the Bingo last Thurs-
day were Jody Hickson of London
for the mystery prize of $150, the
bonanza worth $100 went to Lisa
Bedard of Zurich, and the jackpot of
$1,000 was won by Madeline Geli-
nas of Zurich.

A farewell party was held for Jim
and Anne Borrett last Tuesday eve-
ning, attended by 13 co-workers of
the Ambulance service.
Jim is already with the Mt. For-
est Ambulance Service and Anne
hopes to join him Soon.
Wendy Ocsch from Hollywood is
presently spending a few weeks
with her parents, Earl and Doreen
Oesch.
Earl and Anne Flaxbard attended
the wedding of their granddaughter
Lori Cooper to Bill Warner on Sat-
urday.
Liz Masse and children Richard
and Nicole recently enjoyed a weeks
trip to Rome.

who is a patient in University Hos-
pital.
John and Bridget Groot returned
home last Sunday after a quick trip
to Holland.
Congratulations to Earl and Ma-
linda Gingerich who celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary on Sun-

Michael Steven Geoffrey, son of
Steve and Patti, was baptized on
Sunday, April 23.
A bridal shower was held at St.
Peter's Hall (St. Joseph) on Sunday
afternoon in honor of Brenda Hoo-
naard, fiancee of Kevin Denomme,
who are planning to be married in
June.
Mark Murray Wilder, infant son
of Lionel and Vicki was also bap-
tized on April 23 at St. Boniface
Church.

nia Singers Body and Soul con-
cert last Wednesday.
Golden Glimpses
ZURICH - The April birthday
party was held on Tuesday evening,
sponsored by Grand Bend Catholic
Church. Residents having birth-
days, and receiving gifts, courtesy
of the Ladies Auxiliary were: Clene-
vieve Ducharme, Verlyn Fisher,
Lucinda Keller, Harvey Keys, An-
thony Regier,George Skinner and
Anne Willert.
On Thursday aftemoon,,some of
the children from St. Boniface
school visited the Home and teamed
up with different Residents to make
crafts which we have displayed on
our walls making colorful spring
decorations. We expressour thanks
to Margaret Suplat for arranging
and accompanying her students for
the afternoon.
Tickets arc available at the office
or tuckshop for the quilt draw to be
held at the Bean Festival. All pro-
ceeds go to the Ladies Auxiliary to-
ward' their work with the Ilomc
Residents.
The Sunday evening chapel ser-
vice was conducted by Rev. Stan
Desjardine of the Grand Bend
Church of God.
