On December 20 hey were.beaten 4-1 by, Strathroy, it the Stephen Township Arena in luron Park, and on December 31 hey were beaten St. Marys 3-2, in it. But despite a great game by Exet- er goalie Joe Bicrling, the Waxers couldn't hold the lead. In Goderich on Sunday, they lost to Goderich 8-0. The girls played a hard game, but were defeated by Goderich's strong defence, as they were unable to get very many shots at Goderich net. They are hoping they will still come up with a couple wins before play-offs start. They will be goint to Alvinston on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. to play an exhibition game agaisnt Chat- ham. Panthers teams resume after holidays By Michelle Ellison EXETER - All three of South' Huron District High School's boys basketball teams resumed play, af- ter two seeks of holidays, last Wednesday in exhibition games in Strathroy. The Panthers were not rewarded for their efforts as they re- turned home with no victories. The Senior Panthers put forth their best effort but Strathroy took over early in the game, leading 31- 21 at half time. Strathroy contin- ued to outplay South Huron Novice. Ringette lose to Forest 1-ENSALL - On Saturday in Hen- sall, Exeter Novice Ringette hosted Forest and lost 5-3. The girls played a super game however. Exeter goals were scored by Sarah Hamilton, unassisted, Melissa Hayter with Jayne Ballantyne and Sarah Hamilton assisting, and Jayne Ballantyne, assisted by Sarah Hamilton. Meagan Ratz did a great job in goal. Forest's goals wree scored by Kar- la Kerrigan, with two, Amy Good - hand with two, and a single goal by Donna Fraleigh. The girls arc starting to play a stronger game of ringette. Next game is Sunday in Seaforth at noon. They have an exhibition game against Forest on January 21 in:Hensall at 5:30 p.m. throughout the second half to take the 66-36 win. Rob Pearen led the scoring for South Huron with nine points. Tim McAllister and Scott Hern each added eight and six respective- ly. The Junior Panthers played an extremely tense basketball game against a strong Strathroy team. The Panthers trailed by a narrow margin at half time, but with a ex- cellent team effort the boys worked to come from behind and almost catch .Strathroy.. Unfortunately, their efforts didn't quite pay-off. Strathroy defeated the Panthers by a marginal 45-44 score. Jason Clarke was top scorer for South Huron with 15 points. Ian Verbeek scored 10 points and Jere- my Hrudka added seven. Although the midget Panthers managed to put together some good plays against Strathroy, the locals came away with a loss in the exhibition contest.
