Busy two months for Pride of Huron Rebekah Lodge
EXETER - Pride of Huron Rebe-
kah Lodge has been busy in Decem-
ber and January. The Christmas par-
ty held in December took place at
the Exeter United Church. Over 80
sisters and brothers sat down to a
beautiful turkey dinner. Noble
Grand Elaine Skinner welcomed

Junior Past Noble Grand Mavis
Atthill reported that the next euchre
would be December 14 at the lodge
hall. N.G. Sister Elaine Skinner an-
nounced that the United Nations
"Speak Off" will be held March 31
at the Clinton Public School at -8
p.m. She reported that chairman
Eric Mansfield required S775.00 for
a student to participate in the
"Pilgrimage for Youth" which will
be sponsored by each participating
lodge, donating 590.00 each . Any
student who will be 15 years of age
before June 1989 and will not be 18
years of age before June may partic-
ipate. The contestant will speak for
five to -seven minutes and will be
asked for a short impromptu speech
on a 'pick out of the hat' topic.

Gregor read the adopted resolutions
from Rebekah Assembly and sea-
son's greetings from Edclwiess and
Goderich Rebekahs.

LUCAN - Lucan Seniors and
Busy Buddies met in the Scout Hall
for their first meeting of 1989. the
meting opened by singing Oh Cana-
da with Mary Kooy at the piano.
Minutes of the last meeting were
read and approved. A financial report
was given by treasurer Hazel Cun-
ningham. We adjourned for cards
and crafts. The winners were: ladies
high Jessie Lewis; ladies lone hands
Mary Davis; ladies low Marjorie
Steeper; mens high Harry Noels;

were attended by the groom's
sister Mona Morkin, the bride's
groom's friend Darren Mins anu

Western Lamplighter Inn, Lon-
don and at the Exeter Legion.
The couple are now residing in
London. Thanks to everyone
who helped make this such an

sary. There is a cookbook in the
making and all sisters are asked to
bring in any favorite recipes or
hints and tips. Please give to Sister
Audrey. The book will be called
"Rebekahs Love to Cook".
Birthday wishes were sung for
Sisters Ina Skinner and Almira
Ford. Sister Ina thanked the sisters
for coming to her 'special' birthday
party.
Santa appeared on the scene in his
own jovial, friendly self and gifts
were exchanged between brothers
and sisters. Sweets and punch were
served.
The Secret Sister Party was held
in the first week of January. Noble
Grand Elaine Skinner presided for
this meeting. Vice Grand Elly Van -
Bergen reported "Get well wishes"
arc going out to Sisters Elva Rout-
ley, Gertrude Hamilton and Bev
Delbridge. Happy 60th wedding an-

EXETER - Exeter Senior Citi-
zens enjoyed a hour of cards before
their new president, Alice Bowen
opened the meeting with 0' Canada
and the Lord's Prayer.
It was decided to buy a much
needed piano light. Further plans
were made to host the Huronview
birthday party, February 15.
Volunteers able to help the Heart
and Stroke Foundation canvass
were asked.to contact Lois Arm-
strong.
Mildred Thomson, Luella Taylor,
Edna Caldwell and Mary Funk will
be in charge of the Bingo at the
Villa. A seniors' dining club in the
planning was outlined. Birthdays
and anniversaries were honoured.
Alva Heywood reported there
may still be scats on the January
20 bus to the Winter Follies and
that the January 22 trip is open.
Former president, Pat Skinner,
was in charge of the program. Mu-
sic was provided by Cliff Jacques
playing the violin, Lorne Elford,
the piano and Laverne Rodd, the
mouth organ. Their lively music
was interspersed with readings,
jokes and poems read by Ruth Ar-
thur and Pat Skinner. Lunch was
served.
Olive Ostland and her group will
begin the next meeting, Tuesday,
February 7, with a potluck supper
at 5:30 p.m. New members will be
welcome.

nounced the Hunanitarian services
Committee will behaving a euchre
party- in the lodgt hall January 11
at 8. Ladies, pleas.. bring lunch.
Recording Sec. Audrey MacGre-
gor reported that May Queen lodge
will be celebrating .05th birthday
on Saturday March lq and Febru-
ary 1, Edelweiss, Seaorth will be
hosting a dinner at 630. All sis-
ters will be welcomed.
It was announced that Friendship
Night will be held March 25 and
birthday wishes went to.Sisters OI-
ive Hicks, Iva Blair and Marg
McBride.
Lots of excitement followed in
the program. Everyone found out
who her secret sister had been all
year. Fruit bread, coffee and tea
were served while everyone played
cards.
Making music - Peg Gackstetter, Maiica Gingerich and Richard
Gingerich entertained the residents ane the members of the Blue
Water Ladies Auxiliary at the January mteting of the Auxiliary.
