Good showing for Broncos
Midgets win over St.Marys
The Exeter midgets have
started to hit full stride after
playing most of the season
with a patched up lineup due
to a variety of injuries.
They hosted St. Marys at
the rec centre on Wednesday
and gave the Stonetown crew
a taste of things to come with
A 5-1 triumph.
After a scoreless first, the
locals popped a pair in the
second and after St. Marys
whittled the lead to a single
goal in the third they slipped
three more discs into the net
to win going away.
Tom Coates, Dave
Underwood, Rick Lin-
denfield, Dave Jackson and
Pete Tuckey triggered the
goals. Bill Renning and
Lindenfield picked up a pair
of assists each, while helping
on one were Tuckey, Jim
Lovie and Coates.

of tallies and singles came
from Rick Lindenfield, Bill

The Exeter Broncos came
up with their best showing of
the season as they dumped
Oakridge 5-0 in a Shamrock

Sunday.
The locals scored three
times in the first period and
added a pair in the third.
Fred Gregus and Scott

home by Jeff Dalrymple on a
solo effort to open the game.

two of the markers, while
helping out on one was Ron
Loucks.
Waxers still losing
The Exeter Waxers still
couldn't find the winning
combination this weekend as
they took one-sided losses at
the hands of Mt. Brydges and
Belmont in novice play.
They lost 7-2 in Mt.
Brydges on Saturday and
were clipped 8-0 in Belmont,
Sunday.
Alan Blommaert scored
the first of Exeter's goals in
the Mt. Brydges loss as he
converted a passing play
with Doug Clark and
Graham Arthur.
Larry Lewis notched the
other with a blistering drive
from the point in the third
period.
Although badly out -scored
in the Belmont tilt, the locals
had a good share of the play
despite missing four of their
stalwarts. Most of the
Belmont goals came on
breakaways as the local
crew were trapped in the
opposition zone.
Pee wees win
Exeter hosted their arch -
rivals from St. Marys in a
Shamrock pee wee tilt at the
rec centre, Wednesday, and
posted a convincing 6-3
triumph.
They spotted the visitors a
goal early in the contest, but
took a lead before the initial
stanza closed and were
never headed after that.
Steve Gould and George
Pratt paced the attack with a
pair of tallies each, while
adding singles were Jeff
Pfaff and Scott Lovie.
Allan Pym and Jeff Pfaff
drew two assists each, and
helping on one tally were
Terry Zachar, Sean
Whiteford, John Wells, Brett
Batten, Trevor Johnston and
Lovie.
Bantams get point
The Exeter bantams
gained only one of a possible
four points in Shamrock
action this week, coming
from behind to tie St. Marys
3-3 at the rec centre, Wed-
nesday.
St. Marys opened the
scoring after only seven
seconds, but the locals
evened the count later in the
sane stanza. Twice more the
visitors took leads only to
have the locals come back to
even things up. The final
equalizer was with Tess than
two minutes remaining.
John Kernick, Scott
Brintnell and Chris
VanGerwen fired the
markers with assists going
to Dave Hayter, Randy Ford
and Brintnell.
Friday night, the locals
were trimmed 5-1 in Lam-
beth. VanGerwen notched
the only Exeter goal on a
play with Kernick and Doug
Scott.
