The December meeting of
the United Church Women
was held on Wednesday
afternoon at the home of
Mrs. Iva Lagerwerf. A
prelude of Christmas music
was played by Evelyn Curts
followed by the singing of
Christmas Carols led by
Mrs. Edna Woodburn. The
Bible story of the first
Christmas as told by St.
Matthew was read. Mrs.
Doris Eagleson gave an
inspiring Christmas
message "God with us."
It's a shame to plan
everything worldly and
leave the renewal of The
Spirit to chance. Each of us
can plan to take time to get
in touch with the real
Christmas Spirit. Don't
leave Christmas to chance!
Closing this part of the
meeting was the poem "Is
my heart prepared for
Christmas?"
The president, Mrs. Olive
Horner opened the business
part with a prayer for those
in authority.
The roll call was answered
by giving a money donation
to the White Gift fund of the
church. Letters of ap-
preciation were read from
recipients who had received
baskets of fruit during the
past month and from
newlyweds for Bibles
received.
The nominating com-
mittee's report for officers
for the new year was ap-
proved. Following, all en-
joyed a special Christmas
lunch provided by the
hostess.

we keep them open.
You keep them safe.
Clearing snow from our highways
can be a 24-hour, seven -days -a -week
job for the nen who drive the prov-
ince's snow plows.
They work in the worst kind of
driving conditions so people and
products can keep moving across the
province, even in the worst winter
weather.
As soon as you see the snow plow's
blue light, slow down. Be patient -
don't try to pass; that's dangerous
for you and them.
1-ielp them do their job.
Then do your part: be extra
alert, adjust your speed and driving
tactics to suit weather and road
conditions.
