Although many toes and
noses were far from cozy
eager children and adults
lined main Street last
Saturday for the brief visit of
jolly old St. Nick. A few
expressed the wish that
there could have been more
snow on the ground to make
the scene a bit more like
winter, but everyone was
enthusiastic about this
year's efforts.
London's Imperial Drum
and Bugle band followed the
O.P.P. antique model car
and current cruiser and set
the pace with lively music
and familiar carols. Many
floats tossed peanuts and
candles to the children in the
crowds as they passed by.
This year winning entry
took "The Year of the Child"
was its theme with a salute
to Inuit children in par-
ticular as a young sheep
pulled along an igloo to fit
the occasion.
The float was prepared by
the McIntyre family of
Denfield and Hokannson
family of R.R. 1, Ailsa Craig.
The Charlton Bros. of
Parkhill won second place
with "The Cabineers", - a
local Snowmobile lub,
taking third.
Following the parade the
children were able to shake

"A Christmas Gift I
Received As A Child That 1
Especially Remember" was
the response given by 20
members at the December
meeting of the Riverview
W.I. at the Ailsa Craig
Masonic Hall.
The theme of the meeting
was Crafts, and several
ladies shared crafts which
they have been working on
recently with the members.
Mrs. Alden Craven,
president, presided at the
meeting and read a poem
entitled, "Christmas Mor-
ning". A reading "Memories
of Christmas" was also
shared by Mrs. Don Hughes.
As the members entered
the hall they were greeted
with sounds of familiar
Christmas music, and Mrs.
Hughes, convener of Family
& Consumer Affairs led the
members in singing a few
Christmas carols. The
Motto, "I saw Christmas, I
heard Christmas, I felt
Christmas" was given by
Ms. Ruby McLean who read
the Christmas story from
Luke.
A number of tips on con-
sumerism was prepared by
Mrs. Hilda Morton and read
on her behalf by Mrs.
Hughes.

couraged to take a day
course on "Common Sense
on Nutrition" and a donation
of $10. was sent to the War
Memorial Children's
