T -A photo Marauders win pair The Centralia Marauders scored two victories this week in South Huron in- termediate hockey league action. Thursday they trounced the Thedford Browns 12-3 and Monday it was a 9-3 win over the Grand Bend Mariners. The Marauders will be in action tomorrow night, Thursday at the Huron Park arena when they play host to the Centralia College Saints. The Marauders started out strong in Monday's decision over Grand Bend with a 6-1 lead at the end of the first 20 minutes of play. Dennis Carty, Blair Hearn and Ron Funston each scored two goals to lead the first period barrage. Hugh Wilson, Dennis Carty and Rob Funston each chalked up two assists while single passing help was provided by Cec Nickles, Blair Hearn, Matt Muller and Bill Hodge. The lone first session marker for Grand Bend was fired by Bob Lovie on a pass from Steve Kadlecik. Each team scored a power play goal in the second period. Dennis Carty counted his third goal for Centralia on a three-way effort with Cec Nickles and Perry Knee while Rick Moody repijed for the Mariners with the assists going to Tom Richardson and Todd Sherk. In the third frame, Blair Hearn and Dennis Carty scored for the 'Marauders and captain Tom Richardson shot the find Grand Bend tally. The Centralia-Thedford game Thursday was close for the first half. Each team scored a goal in the first period. Hugh Wilson connected for the Marauders in the first period on a pass from Randy Somerville and Dave Sharp replied for Thedford. Centralia took a 3-1 lead in the first seven minutes of the second period on successful shots by Dennis Carty and captain Ron Funston. Assists went to Pete Wuerth, Cec Nickles and Dick Lord. The next two Centralia scores were identical with Randy Somerville hitting the mark on a pass from Pete Glover. Before the middle stanza ended Dennis Carty converted a pass from Perry Knee. Dave Sharp shot the second Thedford: goal. The Marauders broke the game wide open in the third period with six goals while the opposition could only get one reply. Pete Glover scored twice. One score was unassisted and the other on an assist from Randy Somerville. The other' Marauders goals came from the sticks of Cec Nickles, Blair Hearn, Randy Somerville and Ron Funston. Assists went to Perry Knee, Dennis Carty, Bill Hodge, Cec Nickles and Hugh Wilson. Eat less saturated fat.
