Dashwood WI hear about services

TO Education and
Cultural Activities group
was in charge of the
November meeting of Dash-
wood Women's Institute with
Mrs. Stuwart Wolfe and Mrs.
Mervyn Tieman co -
conveners. Mrs. Wolfe was
chairlady for the program,
opening it with a poem,
"Smiles". Mrs. Tieman and
Mrs. Ross Love accom-
panied on the piano by Mrs.
Ken McCrae sang "In the
Little Red School House".
Guest speaker, Mrs. Ila
Kayes Co-ordinator of
Student Services for Huron
County discussed the work of
her associates and herself
among the 7000 students in
the 24 elementary schools in
Huron County.
Mrs. Eben Weigand,
president, dealt with the
business. Members and
guests answered the roll call
"A way to improve your
education when you are too
old for school". Mrs. Harold
Carroll was elected delegate
to the Spring and Fall
Rallies. Achievement day
for the 411 club; in November
24. The ladies are invited to
attend a meeting on
Resolutions Novembbr 28 by
Cloverdale Institute,
Parkhill.
Donations were made to
the Men's Club Christmas
party for the children, War
Memorial hospital, Family
and Children Services and
the Blind.
A donation was given to a
family in Dashwood who lost
their belongings in a recent
fire.
Mrs. Weigand reported on
the London Area Convention
held at St. Marys which Mrs.
Wolfe and she had attended.
Mrs. Gordon Bender
reported the Board meeting
held in Hensall. Mrs.
Howard Deters and Mrs.
Gordon Bender attended the
course on Indoor Gardening
and Mrs. Bender explained it
to the ladies and invited
them as well as any other
Clandeboye
ladies meet
ladies to attend the classes
they will hold. A fine display
of handicrafts was admired
by a11.
The Christmas meeting
will be a dinner at the
community centre for
members and their husbands
or a friend.
Evacuated from
Mississauga
Mrs. Hilda Wein, whose
daughter and family, Dr.
and Mrs. A.C. Whittier, live
at Mississauga informs me
that they were evacuated
about four miles away and
later had to leave so they
went to her husband's
brother's place at Dundas.

of Kippen East W.I. at a
supper at Brucefield United
church on the occasion of
their 45th anniversary.

Kirkton United Church
held their church an-
niversary service Sunday
mornings. Rev. Miss La
Rouche minister of the
charge took the service,
assisted by five of the Young
People reading the Psalm.
Both junior and senior choirs
rendered anthems.

is a patient in St. Marys
