HUGH MORENZ SHIPKA - Dorothy Fenner attend- ed a nurses class reunion on Friday, June 10 at one of the classmate's home in Lambeth where all enjoyed a luncheon. Fourteen classmates at- tended, coming from White Rock, B.C. Bermuda and Ottawa. On Saturday June 11 Dorothy at- tended a reunion of all the nurses that graduated from the St. Thomas schools of nursing. A dinner was held at St. Anne's Community Cen- tre, St. Thomas, followed by enter- tainment. Four hundred seventeen nurses were at the dinner. It was great meeting old friends. Every province in Canada was represented except Newfoundland. Many attended from thc United States and Bermuda. Don and Mabel Fraser, accompa- ' nied by Don's daughter, Betty and Bruce Shelley of Campbellford, at- tended. the graduation of Don's grandson, Rick Shelley, as an elec- trical engineer from Carleton Uni- versity on June 11 at Ottawa. A re- ception followed the graduation service. Rick is presently employed in research at Carleton University. As Mabel and Don travelled home from Ottawa they stopped in Peter- borough and had lunch with Mabel's niece, Cheryl and Allan Roach and daughter Elizabeth. Then they spent two nights in Toronto, visiting On- tario Place and the Science Centre. Mrs. Guenther passed away suddenly June 7, with a massive heart attack. Kar- en attended her aunt's funeral June 10. Mrs. Guenther is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Audrey) Gellatly of Richmond, B.C., four children, Barbara and Mark Barrett, Anne and Chris Armstrong, also Mary and Sean and four grandchil- dren, Jonathon and Daniel Barrett, Kimberley and Caroline Armstrong. Esther Guenther was known to several in this area on her visits to Shipka in time past. Word was received here last week of' the death of Mrs. Art (Jessie) Finkbeiner. Several in this area re- member the Finkbeiners when they farmed on the 14th concession, later moving to Grand Bend when they retired. After Art's death, Jessie went to live near her daughter in Welland. Community sympathy is is expressed to her family and grand- children. Arnold Keller is presently a pa- tient in St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon- don. A number from this area attended Grand Bend Cemetery Decoration service held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.- Rev. David has ac- cepted a summer position at the law firm of Lang, Michener, Lash and Johnston in Toronto. He plans to complete his education at the Uni- versity of Western Ontario's School of Business Administration in Sep- tember. David is a graduate of South Huron District High School.
