Experience '88 begins at Authority
EXETER - Junc 20 marked the
beginning of the 10 week Experi-
ence '88 Program at the Ausable
Bayfield Conservation Authority.
Local students will be working on
many conservation related projects.
Darren Tinncy of Exeter is the
Senior Supervisor and will adminis-
ter the program. Darren affirms that
everyone will benefit from Experi-
ence '88. "The students will gain
valuable work experience in the
field of natural resources nlanage-
•ment. Watershed residents will ben-
efit from the many projects under-
taken by these students."

The A.B.C.A. will take advantage
of Linda Dclong's graphic arts tal-
ents to produce A.B.C.A. artwork,
signs and displays.
The Exctcr crew will be led by
Carolyn Iloonaard of Centralia. Tra-
cey Oke and Sheri Varlcy of Exeter,
and Danny Oliver of Kippcn will
work with Carolyn to undertake
trail development projects and other
conservation works. Brian Leyton
of Parkhill will undertake similar
projects in the Parkhill area.
Experience students provide valu-
able services at conservation areas.
John Leyton of Parkhill will be
working at the Parkhill Conserva-
tion Arca. Rock.Glen Conservation
Arca will benefit froin the errploy-
mcnt of Thcdlord's Susan Jordan.

Four impaired driving charges
were heard during the day -long ses-
sion..
Mark Broderick, 459 Main St.,
Exctcr, pleaded 'guilty to having a
BAC over 80 when stopped on
Highway 4 in Usbomc township on
April 28. Two breath samples gave
readings of 191 and 192. Broderick
was fined 5750 or 25 days in jail,
and his licence was suspended for
three months, -separate from any
suspension imposed by MOT.
Leonard D. Dumbrova, RR4 Tha-
mesford, received an identical sen-
tence after pleading guilty to the
same charge. Sebringville police
called to the scene of an accident in
Usbornc township on May 2 found
the accused trying to drive his. car
out of a ditch. Exeter OPP were
called in when the accused failed the
roadside breathalyzer test. • Two
breath samples taken at the police
station registered 210 and 220.
A 30 -day jail sentence and a three-
month driving suspension in addi-
tion to what MOT imposes wcrc
handed to Willard L. Schweitzer,
London Rd. S. Exctcr, after a guilty
plea to impaired driving: The ac-
cused had been seen in Exeter on
November 2, 1987, when he ran
into the right rear of one parked ve-
hicle on Main St., causing S100
damage, then hitting another car fur-
ther down the road, resulting in
S2,000 damage to the second car and
$3,0(0 to his own vehicle.
Two breath samples gave readings
of 339 and 342.
Marvin L. McLachlan, RR5 Park-
hill, was fined $400 and given the
additional three-month driving sus-
pension despite pleading not guilty
to having a BAC over 80 when
stopped in a RIDE spot check in
Osborne township on 'January 8.
The driver smelled of alcohol, and
two plastic glasses and a part bottle
of whiskey were found in his truck.
Ile failed the roadside ALERT test.,
and breath samples wcrc taken at the
-police station. -
EXETER - Forgery, assault, nar-
cotics possession and reporting a
phantom fire wcrc among the
charges dealt with in provincial
court in Exctcr on June 14, with
Judge C.A. Perkins presiding.
Edward Nccb, Exctcr, already
serving a 15 -month sentence ini-
posed in Goderich on March 14 for
four counts of break and enter, re-
ceived a concurrent sentence of one
month after pleading guilty to for-
gcry.
On February 14 Nccb, who is
separated from his wife, had gone
to the Exeter post office to get
mail. Ile took a Government of
Canada cheque for S467.36 issued
to his wife Diane, forged his wife's
signature, and cashed the cheque at
the Bank of Nova.Scotia.
Jens -Uwe Bryn, owner of the
flensall Tavern, Hensall, pleaded
guilty to. assaulting his then wife
Kimberly Ann Bryn on February 7
when she came from London to
pick up her children. 1 -le grabbed
her neck with one hand and shook
his other fist at hcr, but no punch-
es wcrc thrown, and no infurics in-
volved.
As a record would affect his hotel
licence, Bc,'n was put on probation
for one year, with the stipulation
he perform 60 hours of community
service during that time, for five
hours a month. - Ile will be dis-
charged after probation has been
successfully completed.
Two people were charged with
possession of narcotics. -
Elizabeth A. Klasscn, Aylmer,
had been stopped in Osborne on
May 25 during a RIDE spot check.
Police detected the odour of. nar-
cotics in the car. A plastic bag
containing four rolled cigarettes
and a cube of resin were found.
Klasscn admitted to possession of
hash and marijuana. She paid her
5200 fine before leaving court.
Glenn R. Zirk, RR3 Zurich, also
pleaded guilty to possession of nar-
cotics after being stopped on June
1 in Zurich for a traffic violation.
Police searched the car aftertletcct-
ing a strong suspicious odour. A
plastic bag containing marijuana
and one cigarette were found.
Zirk had been fined $500 in Feb-
ruary, 1980, and S300 in March
1983 on similar charges. He was
Tined 5400 or 20 days in jail on the
current charge, with 60 days to
pay.
Glen Stewardson, Crediton, was
fined S500 or 25 days in jail, with
90 days to pay, after pleading guilty
to falsely reporting a Pirie. Evidence
showed the accused had called in to
report a fire at 139 St. Lawrence
Ave., Huron Park, on April 21 at
5:50 a.m. to Stephen township fire
chief Norm Hyde. Fifteen firemen
and two units responded, at a cost of
about S400.
A $500 fine or 25 days in jail was
imposed, with 90 days to pay.
