What a month May
was at Craigwiel
AILSA CRAIG - What a month
we've had at the Craigwiel Day
Centre for Seniors! Such a variety
of fun times - but then, with our
great gang of Keen-agers, it seems
everything turns out that way!
Have your ever tried an
"Adjective Story?" To a story our
creative director wrote about the
beginnings of the day centre, adjec-
tives were added at random to all
the nouns; making a talc that had
tears running down our checks!
There were "postcard days" when
we brought in old and new post-
cards. We had everything from a
genuine leather one, to one depict-
-ing 1908 bathing beauties at the
bcach. Some messages on the back
were interesting too!
Our "Shopping Bag Surprise"
brought all kinds of interesting
items as well. For instance, a .
round scissors for cutting -off the
tops of boiled eggs, a miniature
anvil, an old fashioned potato
masher and many more.
Because of a projector that didn't
co-operate, we didn't make it all
the way to the west coast, but Eve-
lyn McNaughton more .than made
up for it when she took us to Afri-
ca. She got some wonderful shots
of the animals, the countryside and
the food -laden tables, But if you
want to hear about this tour guide,
you'll have to see for yourself! •
Craft -wise, several of our Grow -
Charts are done and step-by-step
our cheerful clown dolls are coming
to life. One day was spent making
200 tags to be tied to helium filled
balloons for our official opening.
We had a great day on June 3.
Doug Rcycraft, MPP and Florence
Noxell, our fiesty 90 -year-old,
share the honours of cutting the red
ribbon. Florence left Doug speech-
less when she told him she likes
blue better than red, but she got a
roar from the crowd that came out
to join us for our celebration!
Reeves Don Shipway of Ailsa
Craig, Charlie Corbett of McGil-
livray, Ray Campbell of East Wil-
liams, Charlie Grieves of Lobo and
Ken Vernon of West Williams were
with us. London Township sent
their regrets, but we appreciate this
evidence of support for our Day
Center from these Townships.
Our balloons got rained on a bit,
but they took off nontheless and -
heading westward. Anyone find
one? We're waiting for replies and/
or a call to say you are coming to
join us for a day?
