First bowling
tournament
EXETER - . Tite Exeter lawn
bowling club held its first tourna-
ment of the season, Wednesday,
June 8 sponsored by the Exeter In-
dependent Order of Oddfellows.
There was a full compliment of
teams to fill each green. Teams
came from London, Woodstock,
Stratford, St. Marys, Clinton,
Godcrich, Scaforth, Mitchell and
Exeter.
Rain hampered activities and the
tournament was reduced to two
games instead of three.
Members of the London Fairmont
club won first, third and sixth plac-
es on the prize list. Woodstock was
second with London Thistle fourth
and London Elmwood in fifth spot.
The next tournament is set for
Wednesday, June 22 at at 10.30
a.m.

the "A" championship cheque from Jamie Gaul, Lions Club member. The El-
lison team also presented a $100 cheque to tie Exeter Youth Centre.
Lovell tops in shuffleboard
EXETER - Lloyd Lovell topped
the Exeter shuffleboard club Wed-
nesday when he scored 318 in four
games to lead Howard Johns and
Pearl McKnight who scored 252
and 238 respectively.
Steve Hrapchak notched 440 in
five games to capture high score.
A. Hummel turned in 387 to claim
second while Robcrt Long scored
358 for third spot. Mabel
McKnight managed a 345 to round
out the scoring.
Thursday, Joe Gosar earned first
place with an impressive 507 in
five games. He was followed by
Howard Johns with 460 and A.
llummt*liwith 420. Pearl McKnight
and John Pepper followed with 39.7
and 383.
Ironwood men
EXETER - The Ironwood Men's
Club drcw 78 golfers Tuesday whcn
the event was sponsored by Gentle-
men's Choice.
Dave Holtzmann topped A flight
and was followed by Stu Homuth.
Honours in B flight went to Mark
Cowan and Tony Underhill.
In C flight, John Morgan cap-
tured low gross. He was followed
by Murray Wood.
Kcn Hermann took D flight low
gross. Bill Montgomery was run-
ner-up.
Nearest to the pin on number four
was Rob Funston while Jon Din-
ney came nearest to the pin on
number eight.
Funston won a special prize tick-
et to the Shriners Tournament. The
ticket was donated by RSD Sports
Den. Next Tuesday's activities will
be sponsored by Molson Breweries.
