EXETER - The Exeter Express
scored their first two victories of
the young Great Lakes senior base-
ball season this week.
In Seaforth last week, they scored
an easy 24-2 triumph and in a Sun-
day doubleheader in Walkerton
gianed a split with the Bruce county
team. The home team.won the first
game 6-5 and the Express rallied to
win the nightcap by a 10-6 count.
In Sunday's second game, the Ex-
press got off to a flying start with
four runs in their first trip to the

to register your kids for summer
The playgroundstafffelt thati
might be easier for parents to come
and register their children for play-
ground, so it was decided to have
registration the same night as
swimming registration.
Co-ordinator Sue VanderSpek,
and her staff Sherry Chuter, -Jean
Klemke and Special Needs Counsel-
lor Diane Zachar will be available
that night for registration to answer
any questions you might have.
We will be at the South Huron
Recreation Centre from 7-9 on June
15. We encourage parents to sign
up by weekly intervals, either full
day or half days. Every day is spe-
cial at Playground, so we don't
want your child to miss out on any-
thing.
The fees are as follows: one child
in a family $7 for half days; $14
full. days per week. More than one
child in family $10 for half days,
S20 full days per week.
This fee schedule also accommo-
dates those children involved in
swimming lessons.
Our program begins on July 11
and goes as follows: Week 1 - July
11-15; Week 2 - July 18-22; Week
3 - July 25-29; Week 4 - August 1-
5; Week 5 - August 8-12; Week 6 -
August 15-19.

EXETER - The Exeter pee wees
reached the 'A' finals of a Legion
baseball tournament in Kincardine
on the weekend before being elimi-
nated.
The local pee wees coached by
Steve Merner opened their part of
the tourney with a resounding 16-2
win over Goderich and qualified for
the final round by -edging Clinton
6-5.
In the championship contest, Ex-
eter fell to Listowel by a score of
10-5.
Against Lucan in league play ear-
lier in the week, the Exeter young-
stcrs were on the short end of a 5-4
score.
Greys win
three more
EXETER - The Exeter Greys con-
tinued their unbeaten ways in the
South Perth ladies fastball league
with three wins this past week.
On May 30, the Greys blanked
Mitchell 9-0, Thursday night they
downed Denfield 11-2 and Monday
night handed the Crediton Cowgirls
their first loss of the season by a
score of 13-2.
After being behind 2-1 afer four
innings in Crediton, the Greys ral-
lied with four runs in each -of the
fifth, sixth and seventh innings to
clinch the victory.
The first Exeter run came in the
third as Tammy Mathers doubled
and Brenda Jarett singled. Singles
by Patti Down, Mathers, Jarett and
Heidi Elliott sent four runs home in
thefifth.
Again in the sixth, five singles.
produced the quartet of runs. Thcy
were delivered by Jarett, Elliott,
Sandi Fremlin, Judy Nargang and
Down.
The seventh inning runs were
brought in by a Bonnie Caldwell
triple and singles by Elliott, Math-
ers and Down.
In the Crediton second Pauline
Brannon drew a walk and scored on
a Tammy Regier single. In the next
frame, Lori Devlaemink singled and
scored on a similar hit from the bat
of Marilyn Young.
Heidi Elliott and Patti Down
shared pitching duties for the Greys
while Brcnda Morgan went the dis-
tance for Crediton..
In the Thursday win over Den-
field, Hits by Brenda Jarrct, Diane
McCuaig and Tess Nethery sent
five Exeter runs home in the sec-
ond. Three more followed in the
third with the big hit being dcliv
erect by Gail Baucrman.
Sandi Fremlin scored in the sixth
and Heidi Elliott and Sandra Burns
came home in the seventh.
Tcss Nethery and Patti Down
were on the mound for the Greys.
In the 19-0 swamp over Mitchell,
Down and Elliott teamed up to gain
the shutout.
Cowgirls split
In the final tournament game, Ex-
eter scored two runs in the second
frame as Ryan Stuart doubled and
singles were delivered by Darren
Kints and Derek Van Dyken.
Mark Glavin tripled with one out
in the Exeter third and scored as
Steve Farquhar singled.
Derek Beckett's single sent Van
Dyken home- in the fourth and in
the sixth Gavin Snell singled and
plated the final Exeter run.
Ryan Stuart was the starting
pitcher for Exeter. Mark Glavin was
on in relief and gave up three runs
and struck out three batters.

Cowgirls Ladies Fastball team suf-
fered a loss to the Exeter Greys to
end a five -game winning streak last
Monday evening.
Playing a very competitive game
until the fifth inning, Crediton
kept up a 2-1 !cad over the Greys.
However, mental errors and well-
placed hits from the opposition
played havoc with Crcditon's de-
fense.
Tammy Regicr, Brcnda Wilds,
Lori Devlaeminck and Marilyn
Young were the key batters on the
Cowgirls' side for the game.
