quet last Thursday evening.
Competition keen in weekly
jitnies at local bowling club
• Competition was keen in the
three jitneys held this week at the
Exeter lawn bowling club.
Saturday night with 14 bowlers
participating , Ray Smith and Ste-
wart Miner shared top honours for
the men with two victories each and
identical scores of 30, plus four. Er-
nie Chipchase was next with 24,
plus two.
Isabel Rogerson was best for the
ladies with double wins and a score
of 28. Emma Campbell was in sec-
ond place with 21, plus two and
Elizabeth Lamport placed third at
19 and four.
Nelson Squire led the male com-
petitors Thursday night with a pair
of wins and a score of 25. Percy
Campbell and Bev Parsons were
next with one victory each and
scores of 25 and 23, respectively.
The female winner was Isabel
Rogertson with two vcitories and a
score of 21. An even dozen bowl-
ers participated.
On May 31, with 20 competi-
tors, Tony Jones was best for the
men with a score of 26 to go with
two wins. Ernie Ross was next
with a win, a tie and a score of 20.
Ernie Chipchasc recorded the same
wins and ties as Ross, but a score
of 17.
Legion two ball foursome
EXETER - On Sunday, June 5
the R.E. Pooley Branch 167 Exeter,
held their annual two ball foursome
at the Exeter Golf and Country
Club.
The weather was excellent and so
was the turnout with 40 some golf-
ers coming out.
The top honors of the day went to
Angie McDonald and Paul -Mason
and Joe Wragg and Shirley Smith
with 50. Next was Mark Wragg and
Joanne Wallace with 52.
Closest to the flag was Brenda
McDonald. Longest drive for the
Ladies was Jean Mason. Closest to
the flag for the men, Steve Kopp.
Longest drive was Frank Dubarry.
Elsie McDonald and Bill Parsons
were the most honest golfers of the
day. And the hidden hole went to
Shirley Ann Rose.
Last but not etast the most shots
per hole were Ken Masse and Helen
Parsons.

Holtzmann tops men at Ironwood
EXETER - Last Tuesday, the Ir-
onwood Men's Club sponsored by
Whiting Carpets, Campbell Electric
and Stephens Furniture was won by
Dave Boltzmann in "A" flight with
a low gross of 36 followed by Don
Currcll. "A" Flight low net Was
won by Stu Homuth with a 30

Victorious in "B" flight was Don
Cowan with a 38 followed by Gab-

Bill Thompson captured "D"
flight by turning in a 46. close was
Jim DcBlock at 48. "D" Flight low
net went to Peter Hrudka whose
score of 31 beat Barry Mills by two
strokes.
Nearest the pin on Number Two
was Ken Varley, nearest the pin on
Number eight was Dave Boltz-
mann.
Skins were won by Wayne
Pearce, Wayne Burke, Bob Drum-
mond, Don Currcll and Lawrence

Guest night at Ironwood
EXETER - In Monday's ladies
night at thc Ironwood course, Haz-
el Beaver was tops in 'A' flight
low gross and the net winner was
Jaan Baker. '13" flight best were
Sherry Gilfillan and Lorna Russell.
A total of 78 ladies golfed as
members of the Exeter golf and
country ladies club were guests.
Tops in 'C' flight were Karel
Chisholm and Marg Tricbner. Dor-
cas Wcin needed thc least number
of putts, Joyce Morgan had the
longest drive and Dorothy Marks
and Bonnie Ross were closest to the
pin.

Relouw places eighth
in OFSAA triple jump
Sandra Relouw of South Hu-
ron District High School turned
in a valiant effort in two events
on the weekend in the OFSAA
track and field meet in Toronto.

shuffleboard
EXETER - Pearl McKnight was
thcbig winner in both days of shuf-
fleboard played this week at the Ex-
eter Legion Hall.

Tykes lose first three games of season
The Exeter tykes sponsored by
Rowe Fuels lost their first three
games of the young season. The
two opening losses were by one and
two runs.
On May 24, Lucan rallied with
three runs in the bottom of the fifth
inning to take home a close 12-11
decision.
Ben Guenther started Exeter off
with a double in the first inning and
a triple by Scott Rowe scored two
runs. Lucan answered with one fun
and it appeared to be a close match
until the third inning when Lucan
put forth a big effort and counted
seven runs.

triple. Singles were added by Rowe,
Guenther, Michael Schwindt, Jason
Maskell and Todd Redegcld. Pitch-
ing duties were shared by Paul Van
Dyken. Rowe and Glavin.

was unable to catch, Parkhill in
their third game. Leading at the
plate with a single, double and
triple was Andy Glavin. Singles
were added by Jcff McLean and An-
