The June meeting of the U.C.W.
was held Thursday evening June 2
at Zion Unitcd Church. Irene
Haugh and the Explorer girls
opened the meeting with ,the Ex-
plorers motto, purpose and Explor-
er's prayer, followed by singing
"This is My Father's World".
After doing a Bible quiz and a
crossword puzzle, the girls were
given awards. Lunch was served by
the lunch committee.
Mary Kenney presided for the
business. Ross call was answered
by naming a vegetable you do not
like.
We will supply cookies and Fre-
shie for Vacation Bible School. and
a pot luck lunch will be held after
Anniversary on June 19.

pacial Events night at Listowel.
Fall Regional will be on October
24 at Hensall United Church.

Seip turns over a cheque in the amount of $326.36 to Exeter Agriculture
Society president Adriaan Brand. The cheque came from proceeds from a
recent hot dog and hamburg sale held at the Valu Mart store.

GRADUATE- Michael J. Maier,
son of Howard and Muriel Maier, RR
2 Dashwood, graduated from the
University of Waterloo on May 27,
1988 with the degree of Bachelor of
Environmental Studies, Honours
Geography (Co-op Program). Mi-
chael is presently employed with
the Metro Toronto Conservation Au-
thority.

SAINTSBURY - Scrvicd at St.
Patricks Church was cancelled Sun-
day for the anniversary service at
St. Paul's, Kirkton. Several mem-
bers from Saintsbury attended.
Rev. Beverly. Ann Wheeler was in
charge. She passed on the Bishop's
message from Synod, asking all
people to oppose Sunday shopping.
She said it was so .casy to say "It
won't affect me", maybe not but
what about our families?
She took her text from the Gos-
pel for the day. The church was
tastefully decorated with spring
flowers and the choir sang a beauti-
ful anthem service at.St. Patricks is
planned for 11 a.m. next Sunday.
Personals
Mrs. -Hugh Davis and Mrs. Na-
dine Bedell attended the "weekend"
held at Huron College, London. Na-
dene represented our church at the
Synod Meeting in London recently.
Mrs. Voyle Jordan spent the
weekend with friends in London.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Barker spent
the weekend in Manitoulin.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Young,
Richard and John were dinner guests
with their grandmother Mary Davis,
Saturday evening. Richard is ob-
serving his fourth birthday, Tues-
day.
Mrs. Mabel Needham and Mary
Davis attended the anniversary ser-
vice at St. Paul's, Kirkton, Sunday
and had lunch with Mrs. Needham
and Mary had dinner with Mr. and
Mrs. Bob MacGillivray, Courtney,
Katie Scarlett, Caleb and Corbin.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Simpson
called' on the MacGillivrays in the
evening.
Mrs. Nadine Bedell and boys plan
to leave for Nova Scotia on Tues-
day.
