Students enjoy visit from nurse
CREDITON - On May 10, our
grade six class had a visitor, Mrs.
Cassie Lovie. Mrs. Lovie is a head
nurse at the Strathroy hospital.
Mrs. Lovie came to talk about dia-
betes. She told us a lot about dia-
betes. Then she gave us a little
quiz. Three people got perfect.
They were Cary, Elizabeth and
Lorna. She showed us the insulin
that diabetics take when needed.
crossed we walked a tew minutes.
We sat down for a rest and some of
us sat in some ants. Then we came
to a sod farm and Mr. Brand tried to
lose us in the bush. While we were
on our hike we lost six people,
Robb, Ted, John, Kevin, Richie and
Jeremy. When we got back we
found out that the guys that got lost
had been there for about fifteen min-
utes. Richie got his fire going first
Tiger Times... from
Stephen Central
She gave us some diabetic candy.
She also handed out a pamphlet
about a boy who had diabetics. It
was interesting. I think most of the
class enjoyed it.

Sound makers of Stephen
Miss Rath's grade six class are
making musical instruments during
the first two weeks of May. Each
student has to make an instrument
that will produce a sound. The stu-
dents had a chance to work on them
on Friday, May 13 at school. Some
of the instruments will be placed in
the showcase in; the front entrance
of our school. Miss Rath will grade
them for our final report card. The
instruments will also have to have a
written report on how long it took
the student to put it together, the
cost, how it works and what you
used to build it. I think that it will
be a lot of fun building these instru-
ments.

Wet water wanderers
On Friday, April 29, our grade six
class went to Hay Swamp. We left
at 9:00 a.m. from the school. We
arrived at the swamp at 9:35 a.m.
We took about ten minutes to find
our campsite and to get set up. We
left for our three hour hike at 9:45.
During the hike we had to cross a
.deep section of water. After we
because he brought his own match-
es. After we ate we got set up to
play Flags, boys against girls. We
played three games, the boys won
three times. After that we all packed
up and left on the bus. We went on
this field trip to explore wildlife.
Mr. Brand had a contest to sec who
could boil water the fastest. The fi-
nal judgment came in and it was
Duane, Amberly, Gail and Mi-
chelle's group that won the water
boiling contest. That is when Miss
Rath had the first cu of tea. The
trip was a wonderful success. I'm
sure the whole class loved it.
Horse help
On May 19 our grade six class
went to Mr. Brand's horse farm be-
cause we are doing horse projects.
We left at 9:15 and returned at
noon. While we were at the horse
farm we had a talk about horses.
They were Blue, Ilaytab and Bint.
Some of the class cleaned the horse
stalls for Mr. Brand. Ryan, Jessica
and Jeff take. lessons at Mr, Brand's
so they helped they students get on
and off the horses. 1 know that the
class liked the visit to the horse
farm:

Polish pen pal
We get letters.
Some times they compliment
us and sometimes they don't.
There arc letters from people all
over Huron County coming into
our office from time to time, but
it's rare that we get correspon-
dence from across the big pond --
no, not from Michigan. This
particular letter came from Po-
land.
It seems an apologetic fellow
named Wojcicch Plucicnnik is
looking for Canadians to corre-
spond with. To that end, he has
entrusted the Times -Advocate
with the task of finding Canadi-
an pen pals for him.
It promises to be an interest-
ing experience for anyone who
takes the job.
If you are interested in corre-
sponding with Mr. Plucicnnik,
simply address your letters to:

WHICH WAY OUT - This bewildered gray squirrel found its way into
Looking Good in Exeter Friday morning. Somehow it wandered in and
couldn't remember how to get out. After it found clinging to the wall behind
the drapes didn't help, it took a short tour of the ladies' dressing rooms.
Manager Karen Pfaff coaxed it out the front door, but not before it checked
out most of the fashion's on the racks. The disoriented squirrel crossed the
street and ran through Swartman's, leaving by the back door.
