If Lambton County goes ahead with a proposed restructuring, that time may arrive very soon. Grand Bend council has requested that the village be allowed into Hu- ron County should Lambton Coun- ty act on the restructuring idea.. Hu- ron County responded favourably to the question. The Lambton County plan would sec 20 small municipalities reduced to eight large ones -- a move that would strip Grand Bend of its coun- cil. "It's too much Tike regional gov- ernment to suit mc," Reeve Harold Green said, noting that Grand Bend was too urban to be represented as a rural community. The village would likely become part of Bosanquet Township along with Thedford and Arkona. The council seat would be moved to Thedford Should the plan go through, Grand Bend will, try io change coun- ties. "One of our options1syo be Lik- en in by Huron County where we would still be Grand Bend and be represented by our own council," Green said. A referendum will be held at the next election to find out how mem- bers of the village feel about the move, should the Lainbton plan be- come a reality. The move would bring Grand Bend Public School under the jurisdiction of the Huron County Board of Education and make it easier for students to attend South Huron District High School. Asked if the moved would disnipt Grand Bend plans to annex Bosan- quet Township, Green said it would have no bearing on the issue. Enjoy spring trail ride CREDITON - On May 8 the South Huron All Breeds Horse As- sociation (SHABHA) held it's Spring Trail Ride at Adriaan Brand's of Crediton. At 1:00 we struck out, destina- tion - Hay Swamp. As we were rid- ing down the road friends were get- ting reacquainted and new members were wondering what was in store for them. Well 1 can't tell yoti what hap- pened in the first hour because I had a few problems but when I got back with the pack evcryonc was riding down to another path. From there I'm not too sura where we went, i r 1 1 1 just know there were a lot of trees and two hours later we wound up at "the pit". Everyone played around in the water for a while and we went back (the long way) to the stable where moans and groans were heard as evcryonc dismounted. (I don't know wiry. We were only rid- ing three hours.) Supper was then served (thank heavens for non -riding members), then evcryonc went home. Remem- ber if people are willing to help May 28 is our first point show at Exeter.
