A seventh inning rally pushed
Crediton Cowgirls past St. Marys
Monday night, turning an 8-3 defi-
cit into a 9-8 victory- in thcir first
game of the year.

New -comers to the Huron Perth
Ladies Fastball League, Crediton
overcame the opening game jitters
to win on home turf.
A two RBI home run by Deb
Lord sparked Crediton to action in
the seventh. Lori Devlacminck
continued the rally with a double
while Pauline Brannon and Brenda
Morgan followed with singles to
load the bases and then Margie Aus-
tin brought them all in on a triple.
Morgan pitched well in her first
outing; striking out eight batters.
Kelly Phillips turned in a strong
performance at first base while
Brannon did well in the outfield.
Helen Thomson, formerly of Cre-
diton, played well at short stop for
St. Marys.
Cowgirls are one of five new
teams to join the HPLFL this sca-
son.

EXETER - Twenty four golfers
took part in Men's night at the Ex-
eter Golf Course Monday night
when Molson Breweries sponsored
the event.
In A flight, Steve Dubarry cap-
tured low gross for the third conscc-
. utive timewith a 36.
Jim Gage claimed low net in B
flight with a 29.
In C flight, Alan Bell and Mark
Wragg tied for low gross with 44
each. Bob Reynolds followed with
51.
Don Wallace and Francis Chad-
wick both shot 31 to tic for low
net. Mike Veal was close with 32.

flight champ
Steve, Dubarry led the pack at
Exeter Golf Club's Men's night
May 12 whcn he shot 41 to cap-
ture the A flight. In B flight,
Frank Dubarry clinched low net
with a 34.
Andy Debocr Icd C flight with a
49 while Bob Osgood followed
with 50. Gary Kyle and Francis
Chadwick tied for low net with 31
each.
Don Wallace was the 50/50 draw
winner.

SHDHS advances to WOSSA

Laurie Forrester and Sandra Re-
louw, both Senior competitors. The
two dominated the long jump event
at the Huron -Perth finals with Re-
louw coming first and Forrester fol-
lowing for a second place finish.
Forrester, who has competed at
WOSSA for the last three seasons,
also claimed first place in high
jump and third in shot put. She ex-
pects to be competitive at WOSSA.

Panthers stumped in St. Marys
Last week the Senior Soccer Pan-
thers travelled to St. Mary's where
they simply couldn't buy a goat.
Strong play in the midfield sup-
ported both forwards and defenders
who seemed to have a tough time
making good contact with the ball.
The result was a 1-0 loss that never
should have been.
Monday al tcrnoon, the team trav-
elled to Clinton for their final regu-
lar season game. The entire team
played an excellent game, control-
ling the entire second half in the
other team's end of the field. The 1-
1 result was no indication of South
Huron's domination of the game.
Coaches McEwan and Nielson
both expressed their feelings that

Despite the cool, windy condi-
tions Tuesday morning, 23 golfers
took part in regular play.
Helen Burton and Dorothy Marks
tied for a low score of 58.
Jean Smith %was runner up with a
score of 61. Helen Burton again
captured low putts with a score of
15.
Marg Lovell had the low score of
seven in Number 7.
The most honest golfer was Hazel
Westcott. Betty Coates paired Num-
ber Three. .
Hidden Score prizes were awarded
to Dorothy Marks, Betty -Coates,
Audrey Bentley, Hazel Gemmell
and Cathy Bell.
Monday's game was the best the
team has played and they are very
happy with each player's - perfor-
mance.

Sivilay Sengkhounmany scored
the goal for the Panthers and great
games were turned in by Randy
MacDonald and I-lcnri DeBruyn.
Junior Soccer
Junior Panthers have run into
trouble in the last leg of their sea-
son. May 2, Panthers were shut out
by Stratford Central 1-0. .
South Huron managed to tie Sea -
forth '1-1 on the strength of a goal
by Bill Jennison„May 5.
The slide continued May 13 when
St. Marys downed South Huron 2-0
and May 16, Central Huron edged
Panthers out 2-1. Exeter's only goal
carne from Peter McAllister.
lluron Perth playoffs begin this
week.
The girls soccer team played to a
0-0 tic with Listowel. The team
played well and everyone is show-
ing steady improvement. Laurie
.Forrester and Nicole Rosie com-
bined for the shutout.
