Elimville Wi meets By SHIRLEY COOPER ELIMVILLE - The Elimville Womens Institute met at the Elim- ville church on Wednesday evening. President Marie Brock opened the meeting with .a Mothers Day poem. The roll call was answered by "a resolution my family wishes 1 would make - Plans for the. Huron South Dis- trict Annual Meeting to be held on May 19 at Ilensall United Church were finalized. Voting delegates will be Shirley Cooper, Marjorie Johns and Olga I lcrn. The meeting was turned over to the resolutions committee of Isa- belle Fletcher and Reta Morley. Isa- belle read a poem "Day of Judg- ment" and commented on the -motto "If you always do what you have al- ways done." Reta introduced Tanya Dcavillc of Centralia, one of the Olympic torch carriers as well as one of the carriers who was fortunate enough to be picked to go to the Olympic games. Tanya described her excitement as she experienced these activities and answered many question the mem- bers had. Olga Hern played several musical numbers on the piano. Rita intro- duced Ann Dclbridgc and Chris Par- sons who presented the- speeches they had prepared for a speak -off in March. Ann chose as her topic "Languages" and Chris chose "Time". Isabelle thanked the two young girls and presented -each with a gift. Reta read an article "A little mix- up" and Isabelle read one on "Accident Report". Lunch and a social time followed. A large number from Thames Road and Elimville churches attend - cd the United Church.Womcn Sun- day held at Elimville on Sunday. President Sharon Lynn led the worship scrvicc. Joyce Fulton read the children's story on "Seeds" and presented each child with some bean seeds to plant at home. Brenda Ho- vius read the scripture lessons. Guest speaker for the scrvicc was Bob Heywood with a very inspiring. message. Grace Pym, Janet Cow-. ard, Kathy Simpson, Marion Skin- ner, Carolyn Johns and Sandra Rowe sang two anthems. A social time and .lunch followed the scr- vicc. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jewett, Mr. and Mrs. George Dcbicl of Sarnia visited with Mrs. Mildred Fulton on Sunday. • -tem The officiant was The Venerable C.E.Ladds archdescon of Perth. The preacher was the Reverend D. Ian Grant, rector of St. Georges Church, London. He took his text from Acts 1 Verse 10 and while they looked steadfastly toward Heaven as he H ent up. Refresh - at Saintsbury Anglican menus were served in the Sunday School provided by the ladies of the. three churches. Granton and Saints - bury were well represented at the scrvicc. We were pleased to have Harry and ,Eileen Carroll with our group. Personals Mrs. Nedene Bedell, Mrs. Hazel Davis. and Rev. Bev. Wheeler at- tended the "Great Chapter" meeting held in Mitchell.Thursday evening. Mrs: Rose Cunningham was hostess Tuesday evening for the May A.C.W. meeting with 12 members present, the roll call was answered with a, "Mother" verse. Rose led in prayer and read the Scripture. Plans wcrc discussed for a dessen euchre to be held in June. Watch for further announcements. Voyle Jordan held a contest and.the winner was Marg Carroll. , The next meeting in June will be held at the home of Mary Jefferies on Junc 14. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tindall, Exeter were Sunday.dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tindall and Robert. Mrs. Voyle Jordan and Mary Da- vis wcrc dinner guests Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Noels, Lucan, Mrs. Helen MacDonald and Mrs. Howard Dolan joined the group for the evening. WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD - Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Kcn Van Allen and Taunya attended the Sunday Service at First United Church, Waterloo, when Rachel Louise daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Dave Van Allen was baptized. Rob Stewart then took them all out for dinner. UCW service Twenty five people from Thames Road attcnded.the U.C.W. church scrvicc at Elimville Church on Sunday morning. Mr. Bob Hey- wood was the guest speaker and gave us all a lot to think about. Successful breakfast ' Veal's had a very successful saus- age and pancake breakfast on Satur- day morning. It was a very deli- cious breakfast and well attended. Coming events The Explorer girls will hold their meeting on Wednesday evening. May 18 at 7 p.m. in Thames Road Church. The Messengers are ending their year with a Bowling party in Zu- rich. They will be meeting on Thursday, May 19 at 6:45 p.m. at Thames Road Church. Momfi arc invited to attend with your child.
