AILSA CRAIG - Get on board!
Here we go on another quick tour of
the activities at the Craigwiel Day
Centre for Scniors.
Did you know the week of April
18 was Citizenship Week? What
fun! The flags wcrc flying and each
day we sampled some goodies from
a different country. Pins on a wall
map marked the countries of origin.
Scotland had the most with England
running a close second. Friday was
special, for not only did we have
the goodies, we had slides and a va-
riety of things made in Haiti - com-
pliments of Ruby Magee from
Courtland. She had visited her fos-
tcr children in Haiti and brought
back some very interesting pictures
and talcs of her trip.
Dinie Twynstra took us on a trip
to India. We enjoyed a fascinating
glimpse of life there: seeing from
the exotic all the way to the poor in -
the streets. Looked like a wonderful
trip, but with that mix .of genders,
why not? With Dinie's comments
and stories, we alinost felt like we
had been there!
A lot of us arc decked out in new
clothes. Between a shopping trip to
Masonville Mall and visits to Crai-
gholme when Geri's Fashions and
Silverts Clothing wcrc there, we
should be quite ready for the new
season!
During the week our facilities
were taken over by the Craigholme
kitchen while their's was undergo-
ing repairs, we had a splendid trip
to Lambton County Museum with
dinner at the Pinery Inn and a tour
of the Pinery Provincial park before
returning home.
Our day at Swains Greenhouses
was a long one, but we had a lovely
lunch at the restaurant there, and the
flowers were a sight to behold! The
way to and from was a travelogue
in itself as we shared with each oth-
er places we have been (and some of
us have sure bccn around!) and heard
all about the towns and bridges be-
tween Windsor and Toronto on the
good old C.P.R.!
The next few weeks we'll be gear-
ing up for our Official Opening on
June 3 - baking goodies, making
certificates and tags for balloons.
Come and join us any day!
