Barbecue brings in almost $2,000
By Lynne Desjardine -
GRAND BEND - The weather
really cooperated for the barbecue to
raise money for the medical centre
addition. All the volunteers showed
up for their shifts. Hundreds of peo-
plebought burgers and hot dogs.
What more could a fund-raising
committee ask for?
Almost $2,000 was realized from
these sales at the Sunshine Village
IGA parking lot last Saturday from
10 unto 6:30 p.m. All goods were
donated by IGA owner Peter ijaist
and his sponsors.
Organizers Archie and Vera Morri-
son and all their committee did an
excellent job of cooking up food
and drinks. The community of
Grand Bend really supported this
fund-raiser, to build an addition onto
the GB Arca Medical Centre. Of the
S100,000 needed, the centre has
nearly S40,000 in donations so far.
The thermometer located in front of
the municipal office is on its way
up. Any monies over what is needed
for the extension could be allocated
towards equipment.
The village of Grand Bend has
budgeted a sum of S5,000 for the
building fund. This donation will

Scotts speak
at GB church
By Roberta Walker
The Allan Scott family from Zu-
rich were guests at the GB United
Church last Sunday morning.
Fifteen -year-old Darcy told the,
children's story, about the Martin
family arguing about chores. They
were leaving for a trip to the ocean
and the children didn't want to work.
When they worked together they
were much happier.
• Al and Rosemary Scott told the
congregation of their teen mission
this summer. They and four other
adults will be escorting 30 teenagers
to Poland. Everyone must wear
work boots, because of the sanita-
tion there, even the women and
girls. Rosemary said the boots look
great with dresses! The teen mission
began in 1970 in Florida, where
they will train for two weeks before
leaving.
What dedication. Rosemary is tak-
ing a leave of absence from her job
as a nurse in Seaforth as is Al, su-
perintendent at the Lake Huron Wa-
ter Plant, GB.
Bob Southcott read the scriptures
from Deut. 30:1-9. The choir sang
"With All My Heart and Soul and
Voice". The B. Pearens were door
greeters.
A car rally will be held on June 5.
Communion and reception of new
members will be celebrated on Sun-
day May 29.
