Villa rest home expands
EXETER -Local dignitaries par-
ticipated in a sod turning ceremony
Saturday morning to mark the ex-
pansion of the Exeter Villa on John
street east.
The new addt.ion of 11.,000
square footage will provide space
for 26 additional beds in the rest
home section along with a new rec-
reation room, a meeting room, ex-
pansion of the existing dining room
and a properly ventilated garbage
room.
Participating in the sod turning
were Mayor Bruce Shaw, Ontario's
Agriculture Minister Jack Riddell,
Huron -Bruce MP Muray Cardiff,
owner Tom Kannampuzha, chair-
man of the Exeter nursing home
committee Iry Armstrong and Jim
Smith, -president of the residents
council.
On behalf of the committee,
Armstrong presented two gas barbe-
cues and three picnic tables to Allen
Cook for the nursing home resi-
dents and Jim Smith on behalf of
the rest home residents.
Mayor Shaw in talking about the
local committee said, "We always
stressed the importance of commu-
nity involvement. This facility is
top notch. Tom is doing an excel-
lent job in promoting health servic-
es:"
In acknowledging the need for
more beds in the nursing home por-
tion of the Villa, Riddell said, " We
know the need is here, but there is a
terrific demand for money to im-
prove services in all sectors."
While saying there were some
communities in the province with-
out any nursing home beds, Riddell
added, "Maybe we will have some
good news for you soon."
In his remarks, Cardiff said, "
There are more residents over 65
years than there ever were and they
need a place to live comfortably. I
will work with Jack in trying to get
more accommodation here."

ZURICH - Please remember our
Mother's Day Tea and Bake Sale to
be held this Saturday, May 7 from
2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Donations of
baking will be gratefully accepted
by the Ladies Auxiliary.
We welcome Mrs. Myrtle Dietz
to the Home. She is formerly of
Zurich. Residents who were out vi-
siting recently were: Mrs. Ruth
Warner, Mrs. Alice Ferg, Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Creces, Mr. Aaron
Gingcrich, Mr. Anthony Regier and
Mr. Lorne Fleischauer.
The children's choir forth the Ex-
eter Pentecostal church entertained
the Residents on Saturday afternoon
to a musical concert. Our apprecia-
tion is extended to the leaders and
also the parents who provided trans-
portation for these young people.
The hobby shop has an ample
supply of panty hose for the present
time. Perhaps some other organiza-
tion may be able to make use of
any you might have until the time
comes that we may need more.
The sympathy of Residents and
staff is extended to the family of the
late Mrs. Clara Hoffman.
The Sunday evening chapel ser-
vice was conducted by Mr. and
Mrs. Eric Luther of Hensel].
