A group of 25 young people were "Heading South" at the Hen- sall Branch Library last Wednesday with special guests Rick Powell and Kim Gentner. The children enjoyed a beach party with some rocking good music as well as some old stand-bys performed by the energetic duo. The youngsters also played games and entered a just -for -fun Limbo contest. A snack of tropical and exotic fruits was devoured by the group before they left for home. Minor ball Minor ball registration will be held the next two Saturday morn- ings at the arena. Also any boys from 8-13 who are interested in ball hockey should contact Tom Dickens at the arena. Hensall Nursery School presents "Fred Penner" in concert tomorrow. For tickets call 262-3042. Don't forget to start saving all of your "Junque" for Hensall's Annual Yard Sale to be held in May. United Church In Sunday's service at Hensall United Church Cecil Pepper read the. minutes for Missions "Let Your Life Shines". Reverend Doug Wright told the children's story and built the Lenten Tower higher by adding the Praying Hands. Ushers were Rick McGee, Gary, Kyle, Lorne Gackstetter and Murray McGregor. The youngsters came attired in beach wear and joined in songs and a limbo dance. Legion hosts shuffleboard tournament On Friday evening the Hensall Legion hosted their 1988 Shuffle- board Tournament. Thank you to all of the members and spares for their participation. Ladies' high for the year was Shari Groot, runner- up was Donna Allan and low was Marg Upshall. Men's high for the year was Al Kyle, runner-up was Bob Campbell and low was Mark Consitt. Marg Clarke scored highest of the ladies during play-offs with Donna Allan second. Leonard Lo- vell was the top scoring man in the play offs with Bob Campbell. as runner-up. Larry and Bea Uyl presented the winners with pins on behalf of the Legion. At the beginning of the year Wilma Caldwell picked two hidden scores. The two people with scores closest to these numbers won a LEGION SHUFFLEBOARD - This years winners of the Hensall Legion Shuffleboard tournament are as follows: grand champions Len Lovell (front left) and Marg Clarke, runners up Donna Allen and Bob Caldwell, Marg Upshaw (back left) with the low prize, Shari Groot and Al Kyle were first place winners, and Bob Campbell took second. Absent was the men's low prize winner Mark Consitt. prize. The winner of the ladle's hid- den score was Gladys McGregor while her husband Grant was the lucky winner of the man's prize. In every club, organization or sporting event, there is always one person who makes things more en- joyable for everyone involved. The shuffleboard players decided to hon- our a person who is a good sport, a good competitor and brought so much fun to Friday night shuffle- board. Marg Clarke made the pres- entation to Pat Noakes, the winner of this year's award. A large number of prizes were do- nated by area businesses. The high ladic scorers were Vera Ross 330, Eileen Dowson 302 and Pearl McKnight 289. Top scoring men were John Pepper 345, Alf Ross 340 and Del- mar Skinner 320. Queensway 9\Lews Monday afternoon several resi- dents played bingo with the Hen- sall Untied Church ladies. Tuesday morning everyone loos- ened up as we went through our exercise routine. We take turns counting our repetitions in differ- ent languages, we have residents counting in French, German, Dutch and Pennsylvania Dutch. A learning experience. for all of us. Tuesday afternoon Rev. Van Essen delivered the message at our wor- ship service. Wednesday residents enjoyed hav- ing many people from the commu- nity flow through our doors as we hosted a stop'n shop Tupperware party in our Activity room. This was a fund raising project for Rest Ilome Residents Operations Group. Thank you to Cantle McCarron for her presentation and also all the people from the com- munity who helped make this pro- ject such a success. Thursday afternoon Marie Flynn and her Huron Strings were the special attraction at our St. Pa- trick's Party. We sipped on grccn punch and nibbled lots of green fancy squares. Prizes for residents wearing the most green went to Mary Westlake and Jeanette McDo- nald. The volunteer in the most grccn was Lil Baker and visitor wearing the most grccn was Loret- ta Wein. Grace Dinney won the prize for the birthday closest to St. Patrick's Day. Rosa Grigg receive' the prize for the most dances. Thank you to Iva Reid for the spe- cial decorations and Helen Ander- son for bringing in some Irish arti- facts among which was a genuine Irish Shillelagh. Thursday evening several residents watched our fea- tured film "Elvis In Concert". Friday we relaxed at Library Hour while Luella Hall read a beautiful story "A time for fami- ly". In the afternoon Joyce Pepper joined us as pianist at our choir practice. After practice we enjoyed special music by Thomas and Phyllis Desjardinc.
