The Zurich and area figure skat-
ing club arc having their annual
skating carnival on Sunday, March
27 at 2:00 in the afternoon at the
arena. Tickets arc now available
from club members or at the door.
Adults are $3.00, children $1.50:
and pre-schoolers arc free. This
year's theme will be -"Turn your
Radio On" with M.C. Gary Par-
sons from C.J.B.K.
Plan to come out and see this ex-
citing event and all the talent of
our local children.
U.C. smorgasbord
On Saturday, April 9, there is
going to be a roast beef supper
with all the trimmings (smorgas-
bord style) which will be prepared
by Gerry Rader and his staff at
6:30 p.m. in the Zurich Commu-
nity Centre. The dinner is spon-
sored by members of the United
Church to raise money for Al and
Roscmary Scott and three sons for
their upcoming "Teen Mission"
that will take them to Poland for
the summer.
Following thc meal there will be
a presentation to outline the whole
program. Tickets are now available

Little Justin Johnathon Groot was
bapti2cd on Sunday, March 13 at
St. Boniface Church by Father
Mooney at 7:30 p.m.
Preceding the baptismal a family
dinner was held at the home of his
grandparents, John and Bridget
Groot Si, followed by a gettogether
afterwards at the baby's hoine. Jus-
tin's godparents are David and Shari
Groot of Hcnsall.
A nice stag and doe dance was
held in honour of Tony Vandenpoo-
men and Sally Taylor in Lucan re-
cently. Tony is the son of Arnold
and Coby VandenBoomen and the
couple are planning to be married
on April 9.
The pupils of the public school
will be taking magazine subscrip-
tions next week. This campaign
will raise funds for special projects
for the students.

Although yesterday was the first
day of spring, wcathcrwisc it's not
very convincing. Perhaps we have
to pay for the exceptional weather
in January.
The Monday evening films
shown were: "Maple Spring and
Portugal".

Library packed
for magic show
Last Thursday the library was full
of children as they went to see a
magic show they all really enjoyed.
The regular story hour will be
held again this week on Thursday
March 24 from 2-3 p.m. with the
theme "Nursery Rhymes". Moms
pre-school children are welcome.
On Monday, March 14 our librari-

interesting workshop in Waterloo
entitled "Book -Talk".
Ladies Auxiliary
The last meeting of the Ladies
Auxiliary at the Rest Home was
held on March 1.
The date for the May Tea was set
for Mothers Day weekend on Satur-
day, May 7 from 2-4 and will in-
clude a display of home-made arti-
cles such as quilts, mats, cushions
and afghans as well as the usual
bake sale table.
Golden Agers meet
Zurich Golden Agers met Monday
afternoon March 14th with 26 in at-
tendance. -
Gwen McKcllcr gave a report of
the upcoming Huron -Perth and Mid-
dlesex Tri -County District Senior
Games which will be held in Strat-
ford June 20 and 21. A number of
our Golden Agers will be participat-
ing.
• The Zone 8 Spring Rally 'will be
held Wednesday April 13 at the
Stanley Township Complex.
The door prize was won by
Louise Ivanchenco. A lovely Si
Patrick's luncheon was served by
Mary Ctausius and her March com-
mittee.
Personals
Get well wishes are extended to
those in the hospital, Francis Kip- -
per and Karmen Bedard in St. Jo-
seph's Hospital, Mike O'Connor in
Victoria Hospital and to Ila
O'Rourke who is now home.
During the March Break last
week, several school children spent
some time visiting with their
grandparents in Zurich. Some
were, Malinda and Derek Gelinas
from Dorchester with Mozart and
Marie Gelinas Sr. and Melanie and
Stacey Overholt from London with
Phil and Vonnie Overholt.
Harold and Joan Smith had their
three grandchildren up from Lon-
don, while Louis and Cecilia Far-
well also saw some of their grand-
children for a fcw days.
Approximately 60 ladies attended
the Day of Recollection last Tues-
day at St. Boniface School gym
with some attending from Mt. Car-
mel and St. Peter's Parish.
The St. Boniface C.W.L. St. Pa-
trick's Dance at the arcna last Sat-
urday enjoyed a good turnout.
The Beavers will be meeting
again March 22 and will be doing
some Easter crafts.
Due to the science fair at the Pub-
lic School next week no Beavers
meeting will be held for the boys
next Tuesday the 29.
