farmer's night in Dashwood

The Dashwood Men's Club held
their Farmers Night Dinner Mon-
day, February 29 at the Community
Centre. Thirty-one members and 18
guests heard MPP Jack Riddell,
Minister of Agriculture, speak on
"the troubles that farmers have now
and will have in the future."
Their next dinner meeting will be
March 28.
Open house
The family of Mrs. Frieda Keller
held an open housc at Zion Luthe-
ran Church for her 80th birthday,
Sunday, March 6.
Relatives attending from Detroit
were William and Harry Keller.
From Kitchener and arca came Al-
lan Eichler, Charlotte and Heather,
Virginia Stecvcr and Ross and Jane
Eichler of New Hamburg. O'hers
were from Toronto, London, Den-
field, Centralia, Exeter, Scaforth,
Hensall, Bruceficld, Goderich,
Guelph, Dashwood and Zurich.
Frieda was so thankful for all the
kindness shown to her during the
day, the delicious meal served by
the Ladies Guild, the blessings of
Pastor Larry and Jill, the Junior
Choir and all the visitors who gave
their best wishes, cards and plants.
She enjoyed the fellowship of eve-
ryone and especially her beloved
family.

at Mt. Carmel
Our guest speakers for the March
1 meeting were Sheila Howard and
Anita Giesen. They spoke and
showed slides on the Billings ovu-
lation method of natural family
planning. It was a most interesting
and informative presentation.
Coffee was served and the meet-
ing began with a prayer. Twenty-
three people were present. Minutes
of the last meeting were read and
approved, the treasurer's report giv-
en and correspondence was read.
A big thank you was given to
Liz Conlin for her generosity in
donating the material for a quilt
and also to Dorothy Dietrich for
her time and work in getting it
ready to quilt and to all the ladies
who quilted it.
Another craft day is planned for
Thursday, March 10 from 1:30 til
3:30. Bring your hobbies, crafts
and ideas.
On March 4, A World Day of
Prayer was held at Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel Church, with Crediton and
Greenway Churches also taking
part. Father Gary Goycau spoke on
the theme of the World Day of
Prayer - 'Open Doors'.
Our next C.W.L. meeting will
be held on April 5 at 7 p.m. at Our
Lady of Mt. Carmel school. The
C.W.L. ladies will be putting on a
pot luck supper for all ladies of the
parish wishing to attend.

Induct elders at Crediton UC

The sermon topic at/Zion United
Church was taken from Luke
22:24-34 and 54-62 titled "The
Crowing of the Cock".
The members of session were in-
ducted in the service. They were
Alvin Draisey, Howard Hendrick,
Dotffglas Lightfoot, Larry Ratz and
Roy Wilson. Missing was Wayne
King.
Choir practice will be Wednesday
evening at 8:00 p.m. in the Sun-
day School rooms.
The flowers in the sanctuary
were from the funeral of Mrs.
Greta (Homer) Schatz.
Sympathy is extended to the
members of the family, including
her husband Vernon Schatz, Dash-
wood.
In hospital at South Huron Exet-
er is Mr. Ray Morlock.
Choir dinner
A delicious chicken supper was
served Wednesday evening to mem-
bers of the choir and their spouses.
Happy birthday was song to Lorna
Finkbcincr, Doris Schwartz and
Donclda Lewis. Thanks to the la-
dies of the U.C.W. for a wonderful
meal.
The U.C.W. meeting was held
March 1. Roll Call was answered
by wearing something green.
Nola Ratz and Nancy Brand
opened the meeting with worship
service on how to make the best
use of our time. God sets a time
for everything. As Christians it is
our responsibility to make the best
use of our time. Time here on
earth is an opportunity to prepare
for Eternity.
Mary Kenney presided fci• busi-
ness. Work to be done at the par-
sonage was decided on.

on the fund raising day in the fall.
Special Event Night will be held
in Listowel on April 18. Eight
women went to Mt. Carmel to the
World Day of Prayer on Friday. A
delicious lunch was served by host-
esses Grace Morlock and Jeannette
Lamport.
Happy 82nd birthday to Mrs.
Marion Schenk. She celebrates her
birthday on March 14.
