Staffa WI tours

- Staffa Women's Institute toured
the Rosebanic Seed Farms on Wed-
nesday afternoon and were t^+Ar
guests in Lorne and Helen A3s
home for their Canadian Industries
meeting.
During the tour Lorne showed us
all the steps taken in preparing the
seed grains for salt. This year Lome'
is celebrating forty years of grow-
ing an selling seed.
He bought his first seed cleaner in
1968 and his business has
progressed steadily since then.
Lorne is the winner of five world
championships. Lome was thanked
and presented with a gift by Joyce
Vivian.
Lillian Douglas chaired the meet-
ing opening with some thoughts on
Pennies for Friendship and the In-
stitute Ocie and Mary Stewart Col-
lect.
Eleven members answered the roll
call by naming a Canadian Industry
in Southwestern Ontario.
Esther Smalc gave several very
good safety hints.

In the absence of the secretary and
treasurer, Lillian Douglas read the.
minutes and correspondence and
Joyce Vivian gave the treasurers re-
port. A special collection was taken
for Pennies for Friendship:
Roberta Templeman presided for
the business. A letter was read re-
garding the annual Mitchell and
District Music Festival April 18 to
22 and a letter regarding the Wom-
en's Institute display at the Mitchell
Fair in the fall.
A committee of Grace Kerslake,
Roberta Tcmplcman and Lillian
Douglas was named to plan some-
thing for celebrating our 85th anni-
versary of Staffa Women's Insti-
tute.
The Institute will sponsor Joyce
Vivian to attend the Leadership De-'
vclopment Conference in Kingston
May 13-15, 1988 if she is able to
go.
Lunch was served at the close of
the meeting by Marjorie Drake and
Ella Vivian and our hostess Helen
Fell. Courtesy remarks were given
by Margaret Daynard.
Freda Kerslake, Doris Miller and
Roberta Templeman attended the
Workshop presented by the District
Program Co-ordinator Flora Hodge
in the Board Roost at OMAF Strat-
ford on Monday evening.
Robin and Joan Daynard and fam-
ily have returned from a enjoyable
trip to Africa.
John. and Joyce Miller and Glen
and Cathy Elliott have returned
rom a holiday in Florida.
