Legionnaires:narrowly narrowly miss tie
Allowing a 2-1 lead to slip out
of their grasp in the second period
Wednesday night, Exeter Legion-
naires fell 7-6 to Lambeth after
missing a good scoring opportu-
nity in the final seconds of the
game.
Lambeth's Jody Elijah held off a
final scramble, by Exeter in the
last 15 seconds of the third to se-
cure a victory for his team.
The loss gives Legionnaires a
record of one win, two losses and
one tie in OMHA playdowns.
David Schwindt took only 39
seconds to score for Legionnaires
in the opening period Wednesday
night. Mark Burton drew the only
assist on the goal.
At 6:39, Steve Dubarry was the
recipient of another accurate Bur-
ton pass. Dubarry converted the
pass into a goal and put Legion-
naires up 2-1.
Lambeth took control of the
game in the second, scoring twice
and establishing the Lead for the
first time that night.
The two tams matched goals in
a third period scoring frenzy, but
Exeter was unable to come up
with the extra effort needed to tie
the game.
Jason Hern put Legionnaires on
the road to recovery with an unas-
sisted goal at 10:53:
Hern's marker was followed by
goals from Dubarry and Dave
O'Connor. Assists were claimed
by Burton, Tim Van Dam and
Dave Schwindt.
Burton closed out the Exeter
scoring with an unassisted goal at
14:45.
Exeter Hawks lose twice. in Ohio

"With the difference in age and
strength, it gave Ohio the edge,"
noted Ron Bogart. "We could skate
with them and, for the most part,
hit with them, but their strength
along the boards and in the corners
was quite noticeable."
Hawks out -shot Ohio 36-30 over
the course of the game. •
Derck Martin held the key to
Hawks first period success in the
second game of the series Saturday.
Martin kicked out 16 shots and
came up with several spectacular
saves.
Singer started the period on the
right note, giving Exeter the lead at
4:08 after scoring unassisted with a
shot froth the face off circle.

Exeter Lincolns
Exeter Lincolns managed a 2-1
victory over Parkhill Kings Sunday
on the strength of two goals by Joel
Campbell.
Campbell scored at 6:50 of the
first after he picked up a pass from
Greg Haggitt giving Exeter a 1-0
lead.
Jon Cooper fed Campbell the
puck at 5:59 of the second for Lin-
coln's second marker of the game.
Parkhill's Shannon Desjardinc
potted Kings only goal of the game
with an unassisted effort at 13:44 of
the third.
