South Huron basketball teams bring home wins
Thursday, the Midget boys bas-
ketball team played a fine game.
downing Central Huron 67-30. De-
spite the fact that the team was
shorthanded, they managed to stay
out of foul trouble.
Top scorers were Brett Borden
with 23 points, followed by Pete
McAllister with 14 and Brett Ride-
out with 9.
Mark Russell played a good defen-
sive game.
The team's record is now 4-3-1
heading into the final third of the
season.
In the Junior boys game South
Huron outlasted Central Huron 31-
30. The boys played an outstanding
defensive game as they, effectively
shut down a much larger team.
Top scorers of the game were Ian
Verbeek with nine points and Jason
Clarke with eight.
The win lifts the team's record to
Parkhill

The Parkhill Novice Panthers are
still undefeated in the ONHA play -
downs. Last weekend the team
claimed two more victories, making
it six out of six.
On Friday night, the Panthers de-
feated Lucan with a close 4-3 score.
Lucan went ahead 2-0 in the first
period, when Parkhill's Mark Ma-
guire slipped one in. Tristan Hat-
field tied it up in the second, then
Lucan went ahead again. Simon
Desjardine tied the game 3-3 on
passes from Matthew DeJong and
Hatfield. With only three minutes
left in the third, Desjardine fired one
into the Lucan net, which proved to
be the winning tally. Lucan came
close to tying but just couldn't get
the puck past Parkhill's goalie,
Shane Maguire. Great refereeing by
Bob Clay and Steve Feltz.
The local team travelled to Pt.
Stanley on Saturday, where they
trounced the port, with a 6-1 score.
Grand Benders Kyle Vermculen,
Desjardine, and DeJong scored five
of the Parkhill goals, and Hatfield
added a single mark. Assists went to
Eric Symons, Justin Michelson and
Casey Wall. Goalie Shane Maguire
has only let six goals past him in
six games, and the team has scored
28.
A match against Belmont was
