afternoon when 19 Golden Agers
gathered for their February.meet-
ing. A sing -along, accompanied by
Nola Love at the piano followed
the customary opening.
President Loreen Gill chaired the

sion
about the services. charges on
the Golden Agers bank account,
thought by some to be too high. A
motion was made to set up a year-
ly monetary fund, to be awarded to
a worthy student. of Grand Bcnd
Public School, over the ncxt five
years. Details will be discussed
with the school. They decided to
have a potluck luncheon for the
March meeting.
Nola Love's group had charge of
the program, beginning with a
reading about "Valentine Myths".

riddles, and Hazel Lovie read the
poem "Keep Knitting". Games of

out the social time. Refreshments
and decorations carried out their

YOUR vision?" Without a vision,
you will always stay in the same

Catholic news
All masses at thee Immaculate
Heart of Mary Parish were celebrat-
ed by Father Paul Beck, over the
weekend. Walter Costello was the
reader at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sun-
day, with Paul Dietrich, the organ-
ist, as cantor. The ncw choir dircc-
tor, Dolores Tighe, led the choir for
the first time. as they sang "I -Be-
lieve" at the communion. Walter
and Madge Costello were Eucharis-
tic Ministers.
Father Beck discussed how we can
deal with obstacles in our lives,
with the realities of. pain, loss and
suffcring. In times of crisis we pray
for help; remembering that, unlike
TV gospel where turning to Jesus
makes everything line, we will still
have hard times. God is NOT a di-
vine aspirin for our ills.
As baptized people, we must iden-
tify with the sufferings of the cruci-
fied Christ, being made perfect
through suffering. Christ demon-
strates the power of God as we unite
with Him in the Resurrection.
Congratulations to little Michelle -
Lynne -Anne Rood, daughter of Paul
and Pamela Rood, who was received
into the Catholic community
through thc Sacrament of Baptisrn.

noon by Pastor Paul Beck

Church of God
Members of the Grand Bcnd
Church of God celebrated God's
presence on Sunday morning by
singing hymns that speak of the
closeness of God as our daily
Companion. Millie Desjardine led
the singing of hymns, and taught
the ncw chorus for the month "We
Arc Standing On Holy Ground". A
trio of girls, Michelle Vincent,
Jenny Bumstead and Beth Desjar-
dine sang a number, 'In This Very
Room."
Pastor Desjardine's message was
about "Being In the Presence of.
God." There we will find God's
majesty, a joy for living, protec-
tion, leadership and guidance.
In the evening service, a discus-
sion took place regarding various
aspects of prayer, as mentioned in
the Bible. Alex Desjardine sang a
solo.
The Women of the Church of God
will meet at the church on Thursday
evening at 8 p.m. The Youth Group
will be selling hot cocoa, tea and
coffee during the Winter Carnival in

"Workshop on the Psalms"; they
studied chapter 10 "Docs My Sin
Matter to God?" In this week's
Bible study, they read how David
had to pay the consequences of his
sin with Bathsheba. God did for-
give David's sin when he truly re-
pented and -asked- God's forgive-
ness.
We too can go to God, and He
will listen and forgive us when we
go our own way. Ethel Lennox
was the discussion leader, and she
also ted the closing prayer for sick
and shut-ins.
