Elizabeth Hendrick's group served a delicious pot luck lunch. Chairperson Pastor Bob Sinasac opened with prayer and Karen Tie - man acted as secretary. The church board was electedas follows: elders - Don Gaiser, Ken Campbell, John Edwards and El- eanor Weigand, youth elder - Jenni- fer Geilnik. Lay delegate to prcsbytry - Jack Gaiscr; alternate delegate to Pres- bytry - Junc Campbell. Honour Olympic Torch runner The Olympic Torch arrived! Members of the Dashwood W.I. anticipated its arrival. Repeated in unison were the Olympic Motto and Creed. Tanya Deaville of Cen- tralia, clad in her Olympic uniform bearing the torch ran into the meet- ing and passed the torch to the members. She related the scnsa- tions she experienced as a torch bearer. Honourable mention was given to those in the local arca that shared in the passing of the torch. After singing O'Canada the torch was extinguished. - A vote of thanks was given to the members who helped with the Exeter Sportsmen's dinner. Regular reports were given. Margaret Cook report- ed on the Huron -Perth Presbyterial held in Clinton. VerdaLightfoot donated a beauti- ful afghan which was sold. Pro- gram committee of Lois Wilson, Ellen Brown, Phyllis Tomes and Doreen Lines took charge. Their theme was "The world is the Lord's". Audrey McFalls was the speaker. Her topic was "Welcome to Spring a capsulewardrobe". Dressing and . planning. She stressed, enhance yourself, be proud of yourself. Lunch was served by Iva Blair, Gladys Buswell and Marian Ab- bott. When the seniors met at Hcy - wood's Restaurant on February 1, prize winners were high score - Jessie Lewis, Harry Noels, lone hare!. - Margaret Lawson, Helen NI,tc! )onald, low score - Liz Conlin, Lena Hill (playing man's card). We wish her a speedy recov- cry. Full house at Shipka euchre By MRS. HUGH MORENZ There 'was full house out to the euchre party held Wednesday night at Shipka Community Centre. There were 14 tables in play with 12 games played. Winners were - ladies high - Kay Dietrich, London, ladies low - Mary Rader, Dashwood, men's high - Lloyd Durr, Parkhill, men's low - Andy Volk, Shipka, most Ione hands - Murray Carter, Lucan. The far south group was in charge of lunch refreshments. There will be another euchre in two weeks on February 17. Personals Ted and Kay Dietrich, London, visited relatives and friends here last week. Sharon Baker, visited her father Anthony Regier Sr. who is a pa- tient at University Hospital, Lon- don, where he underwent surgery re- cently. Riverview WI goes on a armchair tour When the members of Riverview Women's Institute met in the ma- sonic Hall, Ailsa Craig, for the February meeting, they were taken on an armchair visit to India by Mrs. Peter Twynstra. Mrs. Twyn- stra showed pictures of India as well as telling about her experiences when she visited India. Jean McKichan, convener of In- ternational Affairs, was responsible for the program. In her talk on the motto "A recipe for peace', Jean pointed out that the Institute's Mary Stewart Collect contains a good rec- ipe for peace. Marie Campbell read the scripture and Jenny Morton gave a very diffi- cult cloth contest. Dorothy Donald- son won the prize for the contest. Since Riverview WI will be 50 years old in 1988, a committee was formed to plan a birthday celebra- tion. Margaret Wilson urged the members to look for pictures, clip- pings or other information that could be used in the Tweedsmuir History Books. Leona Hughes explained that she is planning for Riverview W.I. to have the March meeting on March 1 at the Rural Resource Centre in Strathroy. To close the meeting Sa- die Walker and her committee served cake and ice cream. Evelyn McNaughton, the presi- dent, opened the meeting with "a. joke and a household hint.
