A great crowd gathered at Hey - wood's Restaurant January 18 for an ,afternoon of euchre with prizes go- ing to high score - Betty Suther- land, Murray Carter; lone hands - Heien MacDonald, Marian Thomp- son (playing man's card); low score - Jessie Lewis, Ed Armstrong. We wish to thank Steve, Len and staff for their hospitality. A total of 24 people stayed for supper. Next gathering will be February 1 at 2:30 p.m. The euchre at Neil's schoolhouse had nine tables with prizes going to high score - Mrs. Elmer Walker, Harry Noels; lone hands - Marion Thompson, Charlie Rollings; low score - Alice Gilmour, Evan Hod- gins. The prize for the closest New Year's baby went to Marilyn Dixon and Tom Kooy. Special prizes went to Jean Millar and Elmer Walker. Next euchre February 1 will be convened by Jean Millar, Otto and Dorothy Darling and Murray Carter. The congregation of the United Church held their annual meeting Sunday following services. A pot UCW meet at Hibbert church The Hibbert United Church Women gathered in the Family Life Centre, to cnjoy a pot luck lun- cheon with Annie Norris and Ella Vivian in charge. Following the luncheon a sing, say, pay or play program which produced contributions ranging from music to folk lore, from hu- mour to philosophy was much en- joyed by all. After a short intermission the meeting continued with a worship service conducted by chairperson of the day, Ada Pethick. Business items dealt with includ- ed a donation to the food bank, a motion to collect good used cloth- ing for the Salvation Army, a re- quest for the return of all "Pennies for Zaire" by February, and a remin- der of the Presbyterial meeting in Clinton later this month. Members were invited to attend the Women's Institute meeting at 1:30 p.m. on January 27 at the township hall, when a speaker from the Perth Health Unit will discuss the aids epidemic. Personals Cain Templeman was an over- night guest of Ryan Hoegy, Brod- hagen on Monday, helping Ryan celebrate his eighth birthday. John• and Roberta Templeman visited on Tuesday with Don, Dar- lene and Scan Ellison, Goderich and Donald and Marilyn Reid, Ripley. Teddy Smits was in charge of the church service on Sun- day morning with a fair attendance. In his children's story Rev. Smits talked about the banana tree.
