Carver visits Queensway
Hello! Welcome to Queensway
news. Monday'afternoon Joyce Pep-
per was our volunteer pianist at
Choir practice. In the evening we
were fortunate to have Earl and Do-
reen Oesch in to do a presentation
of Earl's many carvings. Everyone
found the evening very interesting.
Earl explained why certain types
of wood are best for carving, also
how he puts some of his pieces to-
gether. Following the presentation
many residents gathered around the
display table to have a closer look
and decide which was their favorite
carving. Our ladies Auxiliary helped
serve a delicious lunch of carrot
cake, coffee and tea to end our even-
ing.
Tuesday Reverend Vipperman led
our worship service. Everyone ap-
preciated his message regarding the
disorderthat happens when everyone
follows their own values opposed to
the order we get from following
God's word. Rev. Vipperman ac-
companied us on the guitar as we
sang hymns.
Wednesday rcsidcnts gathered for
fun and fitness in the morning fol-
lowed by games. Later in the day
baking club met and produced beau-
tiful bran muffins. We are testing a

be published in our recipe book.
Thursday the movie 9 to 5 with
Dolly Parton was a real hit.
Friday afternoon Eileen Rannie
was in to assist with crafts. We
made our own 1988 calendars. Each
month was decorated with a picture
the resident felt appropriate for that
month. We had hearts for February,
shamrocks in March, an umbrella in
April etc. It was a lot of fun and the
residents enjoyed thinking about
what a particular month meant to
them.
Good bye till next week from
Queensway.

Harold Knight came forward to
speak of Oke's contribution to the
Village of Hensall as a whole.
"You've done a wonderful efficent
job for us. I don't know how we
would have got through the mounds
of paperwork without you," said
Knight.
"Good advice is very valuable and
you were always ready to show us
the options available to council,"
echoed Harry Klungel.
"We are sincerely grateful for
everything'you have ever done for
the village. I think you have plenty
of wisdom and knowledge, and we
have all benefitted from that," said
Robinson, who presented Oke with
a plaque on behalf of all the coun-
cils Oke had worked with.
A letter from Jack Riddell, mini-
ster of agriculture, congratulated
Oke on her retirement and wished
her luck in her work with her fami-
ly's company, Oke Woodsmith
Building Systems.
