Ncw Years day visitors with Ella,
Willis and Michelle Mabel Desjar-
dine, were Clara Station, Grand
Bend and Debbie and Eric Planten-
ga, of Huron Park.
Mrs. Annie Ziclman and Angie,
and their four holiday guests from
Dalfsen, Holland, attended a Janzen
family Christmas dinner, on Boxing
Day, December 26, at the home of
Bill and Ellen Janzen, in Leaming-
ton. They all spent the night with
Annie's sister, Susan Janzcn.
On Sunday they visited Susie
(Ziclman) Robson, her husband
Wayne and Colin and Shcina in Es-
sex. A highlight was a drive to
Windsor to sec Christmas lights of
Detroit and the Ambassador bridge.

Annie drove her relatives to Toronto
for their flight hack to Holland, and
on the way down stopped in Ncw
Dundee and had dinner with Gerald
and Nlary Ellen and Justin 7-ielman.
Hugh and I hosted a Christmas -
New Years party, last Wednesday
evening. Attending were Ed Turn-
bull, Zurich, Les and Marjorie Ad-
ams, and Hedy Devine, Exeter,
Alma Genttner, Oscar and Laura
Miller, Genie and Melvin Stade, all
of Dashwolxl and area.
In the social time we played
games of six hand euchre arid solo.
At lunchtime we surprised Oscar
and Laura with a belated lighted
birthday cake and sang "Happy
Birthday". They had both observed
their 82nd birthdays the latter part
of November.
With Don, Elizabeth and Clark
Adams on Christmas day were
Brock, Dianne, Andrew and Dean
Adams, and mark Adams, all of
London.
Toni, Rosanne, Jackie, Jenny and
Michael Russell, of Cottarn, were
up for the Christmas weekend with
Tom's parents, Cliff and Velma
Russell, in Dashwood, and also vis-
ited with Tom's brothers, Doug,
Bruce and Don, their wives and fam-
ilies.
With Ken and Ortha Baker on
Sunday December 27, were Ken Jr.
Carol and Bonnie, of Goderich, San-
dra and Tom Reg ier, Chris, 11c,lther
and Jill, ole Detroit, Don, Sharon
and Jamie Baker, Gary,Sheona and
Jeffrey, all of Shipka, and Mike and
Donna Yarrow, of Winnipeg, Mani-

The T -A has just learned that Bill
Snrilcy, known across Canada for
his family column "Sugar and
Spice" passed away at thc Iluronia
District Hospital in Midland on No-
vember 21, 1987 at the age of 68.
13i11 was editor of the Wiarton
Echo at one time and will be re-
membered by many in the arca who
have read his column in this news-
paper.
Daughter Kim and son Hugh have
announced they will carry on the
Bill Smiley Annual Contest on thc
Human Spirit which is open to all
Canadian highschool students.
The contest is in tribute to Bill
whd, as head of the English depart-
ment in thc %ti'dland Pligh School,
would assign such an essay to stu-
dents in their final year.
