Freedom of information -
promise fulfilled
Beginning. January I, 1988, the
Ontario Government will imple-
ment freedom of information and
protection of privacy legislation.
In making the announcement,
Chairman of Management Board,
Murray Elston, called it one of the
most important pieces of legislation
of the decade.
"With the introduction of freedom
of information, there is now a
promise and a commitment by the
tGovernment of Ontario to allow
public access to information held by
'the -government," Mr. Elston said.
Mr. Elston also announced_ that
the office of the Information and
Egg prices
to increase
by one cent
-. The price paid to farmers for
Grade A large eggs in January will
increase by at least one cent in all
provinces, the Canadian Egg Mar-
keting Agency (CEMA) announced
today.
- The farm -gate price will increase
by two cents in New Brunswick.
The increase is attributed to high-
er feed costs. New Brunswick re-
ceives an extra penny due to higher
production costs in that province.
The prices, set at the beginning of
.each month using a cost of produc-
tion formula, are reported in advance
to the federal government's National
Farm Products Marketing Council.
