Others scor- ing for Stephen were Jeff Glover and Derek Sweitzer. Jason Glavin was in goal for the shutout. - - Irt their second game the Stephen team faced Hensall and after two good periods of ' play, Stephen pulled away in the third period to ► record a 5-0 win. Stephen got goals from Kurt Mills, Wes Regier, Tim Morgan, Greg Glanville, and Greg Hendrick. Threetourney week at Huron Park Stephen Township arena was a busy place between Christmas and New Years. Three different divi- sions, Novice, Atom and Peewee, took part in a holiday tournament. In the Novice division, Huron Park and Zurich battled it out in the A championship final with the home team emerging as the winner by a score of 6-2 Wcdncsday after- noon. Strathroy captured• the B championship by defeating Lucan Novices. To find their way into the final, Huron Park handed Strathroy a 6-0 loss' in the opening round Monday and then downed Hensall 5-0 Wed- nesday morning. Zurich Novices worked their way into the championship game with a . 10-1 win over Lucan Monday and a 4-2 victory over Strathroy Wcdncs- day morning. Local teams were completely shut out of the Atom A and B champion - .ship finals. Zurich managed to push into the semi-finals, but lost to St. Marys 5-0. St. Marys went on to win the A championship title after beating Bclgravc 6-5. Huron Park was defeated 6-0 by Blyth in the semi-finals on the B side of the tourney. Blyth lost to Bayfield 3-2 in the B Champion- ship. In the Peewee division, local teams dominated. Huron Park rnct Hensall in the A championship final arid defeated them 4-3 Wcdncsday afternoon. Lu - can Peewees pulled out a 2-1 win over Thamcsford in the B final. Huron Park defeated Zurich 13-0 and Exctcr Big V Bullets 5-3 Tucs- day to cam a berth in the A final. Hensall made it to the A final with a 3-2 win over Exeter Mac Cats and a 1-0 victory over St. Mar- ys. Lucan Peewees were downed by Exeter Bullets 9-0 Tuesday which sent than into the B side of the tourney. They faced Zurich in the semi-final and played to a.2-2 tic, but an overtime shoot-out gave Lu - can a 4-2 win and sent them to the B final. Hensall out earl The Hensall Novice team won their first game in the Huron Park tournament last week by defeating .Exeter -blue by a score of 7-0. Hen - sail's goals scored by Brad Hartman 2, Graham Keys 2, Greg Keys 2, and Mark Bell with a single. The Hensall team again played well but wcrc defeated 5.-0 by the host team Huron Park in thcir sec- ond game and were eliminated from the tournament. On Tuesday they met Exeter No- vice travelling team and wcrc beaten 12-0. In a regularly -scheduled game on Wcdncsday Hcnsall beat Brussels 9- 0 with a shut -out by goalie Eric Groot and goals by Greg Keys 3, Mark Bell 2, Jamie Campbell 2 and one apiece by Graham Keys and Brock Weiss. All-in-all, it was a gruelling week for these 8, 9 -and 10year olds who have a record of 77 goals scored and only 34 against with five shut -outs so far this season. Midgets pounce on Goderich Exeter CC Midgets walked over Godcrich 11-1 Wednesday in Sham- rock action, helped along by a seven point night from defenceman Larry Lewis who contributed one goal and six assists. Rob Taylor also `turned in a strong defensive effort, while offer- ing up two goals and one assist. Exeter chalked up a three goal lead in thc first and then bettered it by four more in thc second against a Godcrich squad which stood with a line up of just 11 players. Deric McCann put the spree in motion after four minutes of�play 'in the first after he connected with Le- wis. Shawn Moore added to the single goal lead from McCann and Lewis at 4:23 and then Lewis scored a goal of his own from Rob McKnight at 6:39 to round out the first period scoring. in the second, Jim Dickens was the first to find the mark. He scored 'P at 3:21 from Steve Lingard. Hcnri DcBruyn put thc puck in the net from Lewis with 5:49 left to play in the period and Rob Taylor followed with two goals before time ran out in the second. Taylor was assisted by Dickcns, Jcff Kints, Moore and Lewis. Less than two minutes elapsed in the third when DeEruyn scored from Rob Taylor and then Kints added a point at 3:04, again from Lewis. Godcrich scored thcir only goal of the game at 4:57 but Kints quickly righted that situation with his sec- ond goal of the game. He was as- sisted by Dickens and Lewis. . With 4:21 Icft to play in the game, Jcff Chipchase connected with Lingard to score Exeter's l lth goal of the game. ,Fred Gregus was in goal for Exet. er. The Exctcr Midget team now has 18 points with nine wins and four tosses. Thirty-two seconds into the third period Sweitzer scored on passes from Jeff Glavin and Nick Parsons. The Stephen team then added to the lead as Regier, Mills and Sweitzer finished the scoring for a 6-2 victo- ry. Jason Glavin and Connor shared the goaltending duties.
