Nine euchre tables at Centralia euchre

At the Centralia Community
Centre on December 28 there were
nine tables to play euchre with priz-
es going to: high score - Audrey
McGregor, Earl Morgan; lone hands
- Mary Kooy, Harry Noels; low
score - Dorothy Darling, Charlie
Rollings. Closest birthdays were
Iva Blair, Bob Blair.
Next party on January 11 will be
convened by Jessie Lewis and Tom
and Mary Kooy.
Mrs. Pauline Tait spent New
Year's day with her mother Von
Overholt.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mills spent a
couple of days last week with Jer-
ry's mother in Leamington and were
guests of their son Mike and Belin-
da Mills of Huron Park on New
Year's day.
Visitors over the holidays with
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Powe were
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Brittain, Jeremy
and Megan of Markham. Mrs. Au-
drey McGregor, Mr. and Mrs. Jim
McGregor and Shane of Exeter, Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Enns and Jonathon
and Patrick of Exeter, Mr. .and Mrs.
Alan Powe, Mrs. Phyllis Prophet
and Mr. Paul Prophet of Hawk -
stone.
Mr. and Mrs. Terry Morgan and
family paid their respects to the
family of the late Sherrie Lee Fen-
ton at Blyth on Saturday. Our sym-
pathy goes out to her brother Mr.
and Mrs. Larry Fenton and family
of Centralia vicinity, also to her
parents Bill and Audrey Fenton, for-
mer residents of McGillivray town-
ship.
New Year's eve visitors with Tom
and I to see the new year in were
Helen MacDonald, Harry and Mari-
on Noels of Lucan and Howard Do-
lan of Watford. We were Saturday
dinner guests with Mrs. Helen Mac-
Donald.

The sermon topic at Zion United
Church was taken from Matthew
25:31-46 titled "Dreamers and Pro-
ducers.
Choir practice is Wednesday even-
ing at.8 p.m. in the Sunday School
rooms.
The January meeting of the
U.C.W. will be held Thursday Janu-
ary 2 at 8 p.m. in the Sunday
School rooms of the church. Roll

eter are Mrs. Laura Finkbeiner,
Mrs. Ethel MacDonald and Mrs.
Idella Sims.
The New Year's dance for Credi-
ton Social Club was held Thursday,
evening and was well attended. Door
prizes and spot dances were held.
Music by Smoky Hollow.
A delicious lunch was organized
by Bonnie Britton and prepared.
Mrs. Marion Avcrill served it.
Thanks to all who helped in any
way.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jesncy returned
home a couple of weeks ago from a
trip to B.C. which they enjoyed.
They have now moved to Exeter to
an apartrnent.

both enjoy good health and happi-
ness in your new place. "We'll miss
you."
Mrs. Anna Eberhardt formerly of
Crediton, who moved to Strathroy,
is now taken up residence in Exeter.

When a person moves away you
have to make new friends, but it's
not the same, and it's nice to come
back where your old friends and ac-
quaintance are.
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Preszcator vis-
ited Friday New Years Day with
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hubley and
were supper guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Harold McCallum, RR 1 Wal-
ton.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Regele,
Princeton, were New Years guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Joe:Regier.
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Preszcator
spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs.
John Arbo and family, Woodham.
Sympathy is extended to the fami-
ly of the late Mrs. Jack (Angela)
Morrissey, Grand Bend, formerly of
the Crcditon area. Also to the fami-
ly of the late Mr. Bill Batten, RR 4
Denfield. Bill was the editor of The
Times Advocate, Exeter. Bill will
be missed by all his friends.

Thursday of this week at 8 at the
church. All ladies are welcome.

prepare for confirmation, scheduled
for Easter Sunday.
Dashwood native wins award

Mrs. Frieda Kellar and family are
pleased to announce that her son,
Roger Kellar, was presented with
the "James O'Rourke Memorial
Award" at the Beaver Foods Ltd.
Annual Convention at Niagara -on -
the -Lake. Roger is Controller of
Beaver Foods of London and the
award was for his outstanding work
for the company.
Roger was a student at Smoky
Hollow School, South Huron Dis-
trict High School and Westervelt,
London. Congratulations, Roger.

did you make? How many have you
broken since January 1? If you only
make a few realistic ones you can
keep them rather than making too
many and becoming frustrated and
breaking all of them.
I wish you health and happiness
and may 1988 be the most produc-

The theran Ladies Guild will
hold th first meeting January 12
at the church. Their guest will be
Charlotte Empringham who will
demonstrate microwave cooking at
8 p.m. Everyone welcome. The cost
depends on how many attend.
