Three balloons found
on Shipka farm
Sy MRS. HUGH MORENZ
Shipku
Hugh and 1 recently attended the
christening of our great, great niece,
Laura Jeanne Corbett, daughiier of
_Sieve and JanineCorbett, at Hensall
United Churc, 9( my old hole*
church).
After church, about 20 relatives had
lunch with Steve and Janine and their
other two children, Gerry and Cecilia.
Guests included cousins, aunts,
uncles, grandparents and two great
grandmas. We enjoyed an afternoon
of visiting and picture taking.
Recent visitors with us have been
Rosanne, Jackie, Jenny and Michael
Russell of Cottam, Lorne and Loreen
Devine, of Zurich and two girl friends
from school days, Minnl. (Seugster).
Noakes, Hensall and Helen (Munn)
- Ferrigno of Hoboken, New Jersey.
Helen and I attended grade school
together!
Friday October 16, Hugh found
three balloons (two blue, one. red) in
one of our fields. Written on the
balloons was G.M. - Wallis Motors
and General Motors - 50 years. At-
tached to them was a small plastic
cup, with artificial eyes glued on, and
taped inside the cup was paper with
a child's crayon drawings. There was
no name. or where the balloons were
released from
4-H news .
Meeting five of Grand Bend II 4-H
club was held at Sarah Patterson's
house, on October 19 at.7 p.m.
Connie Russell opet.ed the meeting
with the 4-H pledge and the roll call
which was, "Present your speech pro-
moting Ontario fruit".
This speech was part of our home
activity and was to be about one
minute long. 1 worked with Sarah Pat-
terson and we did our speech on ap-
ples. After listening to all the
speeches we went through our books
and discussed the topics, salads, how
to make them and dressing to serve
over them.
• Included in our book were ways to
make vegetables decorative. We
made carrot curls, onion mums,
tomato and radish roses, cucumber
wheels, tomato flowers and celery
and radish fans.
The most popular one with our
group were carrot curls and
cucumber wheels. We dipped them in
a lemon honey dip made by Sarah
Patterson and Connie Russell. Now it
was getting about time to head home
so we looked over our home activities
and closed with the grace.
