Team Circus 'dealing in' the new
The 1987-88 snowmobile racing
season is here and Team Circus is
busy dialing in their new 1988
Yamaha Exciter from Ilully Gully.

With new style carburetion for '88, The team then made some changes
it is taking time, but progressing. over to oval racings an sent their
August 26 at the Gully, the Team driver Brian Eickmeier to Eagle
won B -Improved Stock and placed se- River, Wisconsin for the second an-
nual wood chip classic oval race. The
race is held on watered and packed
down wood chips.
With placings of first, second and
fourth in individual heats, Eickmeier
was tied for first place with two other
drivers. It came down to a three lap,
three sled shoot-out.
Eickmeier dropped low to the inside
on turn no. one to take the lead and
held off the other drivers for two laps.
On the last" corner, after charging
hard to stay ahead of a 130
hrosepower modified machine, he slid
and dropped to second place for the
finish.
The Team was pleased with the
handling and performance of their '88
Exciter.
On October 4, we returned to grass
drag at liully Gully.
The Team came away with a first
in B -stock. second in B -improved
stock, second in A stock and a fourth
place in AA stock.
Team Circus is also busy setting up
their Yamaha Phazer to give them
two sleds to run at the Can -Am shoot-
out a two day racing event this
weekend October 17. 18. at Dutton.

Exeter Peewees win, lose
Exeter Peewee Legion travelling
team opened their Shamrock season
last week with a 5-1 loss to Lambeth
but quickly rebounded, picking up a
3-1 win over Lucan in their first home
game Wednesday night.
Exeter Peewees demonstrated
some good defensive play October 2
in their loss to Lambeth. but were
lacking offensively.
Lambeth took a 1-0 lead in the first
period and then added to it with
another goal in the second.
Early in the third, Fred Godbolt
connected with Steve Farquhar and
Joel Campbell to score, making it 2-1
and closing the gap.
However, Lambeth came back to
score three unanswered goals in the
third to win the game.
Richard Phillips was praised for an
outstanding effort in goal for Exeter.
Molting Hawks
Exeter Molting Hawks played to an
8-8 tie against the Old Oilers in Sar-
nia Tuesday night.
Ron Moore picked up a hat trick in
the effort while Bob Jones scored
twice.
Jim Pfaff, Scott Burton and Eric
Finkbeiner each scored single goals.
Molting Hawks next see action
when they travel to Seaforth Saturday
at 8 p.m.
Waxers tie
1 Exeter Waxers pulled out a 1-1 tie
against T(iamesford but suffered a 3-1
loss at the hands of Lucan on the
weekend in Shamrock Novice action.
Friday night Waxers Chad Dalrym-
ple scored in the first period, but his
effort was matched by Thamesfot d
and the two teams struggled for
ground throughout the remainder of
the game.

Waxers had some good oppor-
tunites in both the second and third
periods, but the Thamesford goalie
repelled every shot.
The defensive unit of Waxers put
forward a good effort, limiting the op-
position to just two or three good scor-
ing chances.
Sunday night Lucan took a 2-0 Lead ,
in the first period. Waxers were •
unable to match those goals, and 1
though-theentir-e team played well,
they were unable to capitalize on the '
chances that presented themselves.
Eketer's only goal was scored by
Jeff Sararas in the second period.

Wednesday night, Lucan and Ex-
eter battled it out through a scoreless
first period which featured end-to-end
rushes and great goaltending.
It wasn't until 2:04 of the second
period that Lucan's Dan Fenn put a
mark on the board amidst some good
defensive action. .
Lucan carried the 1-0 lead into the
third period but Joel Campbell chang-
ed the shape of the game after 2:56 of
play in the period when he scored
unassisted to tie the game.
Al McFalls followed Campbell's
lead, scoring the go-ahead goal on a
pass from Fred Steciuk after 5:22.
Steciuk then gave. Exeter Peewees
some insurance, potting an unassisted
goal after six minutes of play.
Phillips was again in net for Exeter,
this time claiming the win.
Shuffleboard
John Pepper scored 415 Wednesday
afternoon to take .op position in five
games between mixed teams in Ex-
eter shuffleboard action. -
Pepper was , followed by Steve
1Crapchak, 339, Delmar Skinner, 316.
Marjorie Richardson,.291.
Rhea Greene and Ross Marshall
tied for fifth spot over all with 261.
In four games of mixed team 'ac-
tion, Eldon Heywood led the pack
with 353. Heywood was followed by
Edna Caldwell, '312, Harold Davis,
254.
Allen. Johns and R. Long tied for
fourth spot with 248.
Mixed shuffleboard action heat"
up Thursday when three separate
rounds were played.
Steve Krapchak scored -521 to cap-
ture first place out of six games. He
was followed by Charles Hendy.with
476 and Mabel McKnight with 408.
In a five game mixed round, Edna
Caldwell emerged with the top score,
accumulating 430 points.
Caldwell was followed by Lloyd ,
Lovell, 384, Meine Eizenga, 324, Eldon
Ileywood, 321.
Charles Tindall scored 381 to lead
the way in four games Thursday. He
was followed by Lloyd Ballantyne,
287, and Verda Lightfoot, 200.
