Ilack, tourney at SHDIIS
The annual Red and Black Tourna-
ment was held at the highschool Fri-
day. A total of 15 teams from as far
north as Walkerton and Shelbourne
and as far south as St. Thomas and
Aylmer participated in the event.
The teams were divided into three
pools with the top team advancing to
semi finals and with the best overall
second place team making up the
fourth team.
South Huron, West •Elgin, Central -
Elgin and Medway entered the semi
finals.
In pool play South Huron played
against Regina Mundi, North Mid-
dlesex, East Elgin and Centre
Dufferin.
In their first game South Huron
defeated East Elgin 3-0. Scorers for
South Huron were Tina Campbell (2),
and Jodie Lamport. Against Regina
Mundi, Panthers won 1-0 with Leanne
Dietrich scoring the winner.
In the other two pool games Pan-
thers ended with two 0-0 ties, controll-
ing the play, in each game.
In the semi-final game against last
year's WOSSA champions, West
Elgin from West -Lorne, the Panthers
jumped to a 1-0 lead on a goal from
Leanne Dietrich. They continued to
apply pressure to the more experienc-
ed team but in the second half suf-
fered a lapse and allowed West Elgin
to tie the score.
The score remained tied at the end
of regulation time and twenty minutes
of overtime.
- After the first round of five penal-
ty strokes, the score remained tied,
but in the next round, West Elgin took
the lead and won the game.
West Elgin played Central Elgin in
the final and won 1-0 to take the cham-
pionship. The young South Huron

team displayed great team spirit and Saturday they travel to St. Thomas to
effort. The team plays two league the Titan tournament where they will
games this Monday and Friday and 'defend their title.
Exeter ladies g olf
A group of ardent golfers took ad-
vantage of Tuesday's beautiful
weather by playing the Exeter Golf
Course in reverse. This proved to be
a challenging event.
Longest drive on Number 1 went to
Dorothy Marks while longest drive on
Number 9 was captured by Jean
Crerar.
The lowest score of 56 went to
Dorothy Marks. The runner-up was
Helen Wasnidge at 63. She was follow-
ed closely by Bette Smith, Dorothy
Kipfer and Grace Drummond who all
tied at 64.
Tied for low putts were Vicki Hor-
baniuk, Peggy Ferguson and Cathy
Bell.

Wednesday night after she shot 238 in
four games to beat Bruce Watson, 181,
and Ross Marshall, 168.
High score in the men's division
was taken by Harold Beaver who shot
326 in five games. He was followed by
Allen Johns, 306, and John Pepper,
303.
Jean Hern scored 310 to top the
ladies division in five games. Blanche Nr
Johns followed Hern closely with 303
and Pearl McKnight at 300.
In Thursday night's action, Albert
Hummel led the men's division, scor-
ing 534 in six games. Steve Krapcheck T
followed with 429. Allen Johns round-
ed out the top three with 354.
In a second men's series, Ray Cot40(

tle led the way with 423 after five y
games. Walter Davis followed with 71`
316 and Charles Hendy came third
with 276.
Olive Essery again dominated the 4(
ladies division Thursday night when
she scored 392 in six games. Muriel
Marshall scored 333 in five games and
Ruby Beaver picked up 281.
