held this year at the Zurich fair.
Twenty-one babies kept the mothers

Congratulations to Julie Consitt
who was chosen as the Zurich Fair
Queen for 1987 out of seven con-
testants. She was crowned at the
dance on Friday evening following the
program of entertainment earlier.

Church enjoyed spending last Sunday
July 19 at Ken Gascho's Park RR :3
Zurich with all it s shade trees. The
fun began with a picnic supper, after
visiting in the afternoon, and ended in
the evening with an out -door service.

A terrific four-day summer holiday
was enjoyed last week by Sharon
Brokenshire, Pauline Miller. Heather
Klopp and Sharon Durand. They went
by train from London to Kingston and
were met by Diane Amacher, and,
from there travelled to Amacher's
lodge on Devil Lake. Joining them.
were Diane's daughter Stacey and
Bonnie and sister-in-law Jane. The
nice sunny days were spent boating.
fishing, swimming and relaxing.
Melissa Beer from Ottawa is spen-
ding the week visiting with her
parents. Mr. and Mrs. Mozart Gelinas
Sr. and relatives, including her
mother-in-law. Mrs. Lillian Beer in
Hensall. Melissa attended the wed-
ding of her niece Rose -Marie Overholt
in London on Saturday.

Stele and Janet Durand and three
children recently returned home from
a nice two-week vacation by plane out
west, staying with his relatives, Max-
ime and Anita Durand in Calgary and
going to see such places as the
Calgary Stampede and Banff.
Congratulations to Dale and
Carolyn (nee Hartman) Sweiger who
were married at St. Boniface Church
on Friday evening July 24 by Fr.
Mooney. The bride is the daughter of
Victor and Irene Hartman.
1 am sure everyone is thankful for
the relief from the extreme heat and
humidity of last wek and the chance
to have a more restful sleep.
The sympathy of 'residents and staff
is extended to the family of the late
Mr. Jacob Deichert and Mrs. Loret-
ta Fahrner.
Mrs. Margaret Adams returned
from the hospital while Mrs. Love re-
mains in South Huron Hospital.

Life goes on as usual at the home
with the various activities as schedul-
ed from day to day. The past week
has been one of as much leisurely
time as possible in order to counteract
the effects of the extreme heat and
humidity.
We welcome Dr. Chas. Toll,
formerly of Seaforth and Blyth, also
Mrs. Lucinda Keller of Dashwood to
the home.
On Thursday afternoon a week ago
Mr. Marc Chalut, our faithful
volunteer, arranged a Heritage Tour
of Bayfield for our interested
residents. lie studied upon the history
of the various buildings and stopped
nearby eacb building and explained
their historical significance. Perhaps
the viewing of all the beautiful flower
gardens was even more enjoyable for
some of the residents.
Thank you, Marc and wife Eileen,
for taking the time to come to the
home and manicure nails.
Last Thursday evening, the ladies
of Varna 'United Church hosted the
July birthday party. A program of
violin, piano and guitar music was en-
joyed by the residents.
Those having birthdays during the
month of July and receiving gifts,
courtesy of the Ladies Auxiliary,
were Mrs. Eileen Gemeinhardt, Mrs.
Elaine Merner and .Mrs. Oriole
Westlake. Following the program, all
enjoyed a delicious lunch.
On Friday evening, bingo was
played followed by refreshments.
Rev. Stuart Miner of Exeter con-
ducted the Sunday evening 'chapel
service.

• EXPLANATORY NOTE
The TownshiR.of Stanley passed a Comprehensive Zoning By-
law (By -low 22-1985) on November 26, 1985. The zoning by-law
,affects all lands in the Township of Stanley by regulating the
use of lands and the character,. location and use of buildings
and structures in various defined areas of the Township.- The
zoning by-law implements the township of Stanley Secondary
Plan and provides specific land use zones and provisions to en-
sure that the policies of the Secondary Plan are realized.
Eight objections were received to the by-law as outlined below,
although several have been resolved by an amending by-law
(By-law 12-1987), which was passed b'y Township Council on
June 9, 1987; the appeal period for the amending By-law 12-1987
ends on July 20. 1987.
The following objections were received:
1. Jim and Brenda Dejong - to zone Part Lot 20, Concession 1,
from 'AG4' to 'Ag4-2' (Agricultural Small Holding - Status
Zone), recognizing on existing automotive repair shop:
resolved by By-law 12-1987.
2. The Ven A.E. Chovoz, Anglican Church of Canada - to zone
Part Lot 7, Lake Road West Concession, from 'D'
(Developmental) to '11' (Institutional - Special) recognizing
a church camp and accessory uses; resolved by By-law
12-
3. Mrs.1987. Rosemary SobanskL- td zone Part Lot 5, Lake Road West
Concession, from 'NE1' to 'NE1-6' (Natural Environment -
Special), recognizing a recreational residence in the Natural
Environment Zone;•resolved by By -low 12-1987.
4. Mr. R. Jenkins - to zone Part Lots 9 & 10, Range A, from 'NEI'
(Natural. Environment) to AG2 (Restricted Agriculture) to cor-
rect a mapping error; to zone Part lot 9, Range 'A' from 'RR1'
(Rural Residential) to AG2 to correct a mapping error: resolv-
ed by By-law 12-1987. •
5. Mr. W.A. MacKintosh - to correct a mapping error by adding
a lot to the east side of Durand Street, south of the road ac-
cess on Part lot 21, Lake Road West Concession; resolved
by By-law 12-1987 but objection outstanding.
6. Mr. Keith Westlake • to zone Lot 16, R.P. 108 from 'RC1'
(Recreational Residential) to 'RC1 -1' (Recreational Residen-
tial - Special) to permit establishment of a recreational
residence on amended yard and setback requirements;
resolved by Bylaw 12-1987 but objection outstanding. '
7. Mrs, Ruth Talbot • to zone Lot 7, R.P. 108 from 'RC1' (Recrea-
tional Residential) to "'RC1 -2' (Recreational Residential -
Special) to permit establishment of a recreational residence
on amended yard and setback requirements; objection
outstanding.
. 8. Mr. Edward Hughes . (re: Lots 1 8 2, R.P. 111) objects to 'RC1'
(Recreational Residential) zoning as it does not allow per-
manent habitation of a dwelling, does not provide full com-
plement of munkipal services and •violates constitutional
rights; objection outstanding.
