The three contenders will be the Toronto Blue Jays, New York
Yankees and Detroit Tigers. Right now only three games separate
•the top contenders. -
Ml three teams have top pitching staffs and have the power
at the plate to weld together a pennant contending combination.

clubs. Pat Gillick haus been much more successful in drafting than
in trades.

ed especially in the pitchings department where Jimmy Williams
now has four lefthanders. That's a long cry from the time Jerry
Garvin was the only southpaw.
The Detroit bats have come to life in recent weeks thanks in
part to the acquisition of Bill Madlock and the 21 game hit streak
of Allan Trammell and the return to form of Kirk Gibson.
We would predict right now that these three clubs will be close
all the way and not more than two or three games will separate
them at the finish.
This area is full of Blue Jay, Tiger and Yankee fans so the
balance of the'season should be more than doubly interesting. How
about flipping a coin on October 3.
' Fish Fraud
Officials of the Molson .Export Big Fish contest in an un-
precedented move have taken away the prizes from two of the top
1986 entries.
A father and son from Minnesota claimed to have caught
muskies in Rainy Lake. After considerable investigation the pair
admitted they must have made mistakes and the fish were not as
large as claimed on the entry forms.
As both fish were in the live release category only pictures are
necessary to claim prizes. Contest people said photos submmtted
with both entries did not seem to collaborate the huge size claim --
ed for the two fish.
