Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rohde called at
the 01 Haskett and Son Funeral
Home, Lucan Wednesday evening to
pay their respect to the late Alvin It.
Harness of London. Sympathy is ex-
tended to his wife and family and his
brothers Harold and Elmer. The
Harness' attended public school at
Woodham.
Doug.Stephen of Winchelsea played
the mouth organ and accordion and
Bill Rohde played the violin at Exeter
Villa, Wednesday evening.
The United Church Women catered
to 580 people at their strawberry and
ham supper on Monday evening.
The Thames Road Guild composed
of Ray Cann on the violin, Ken Dun-
can on the violin, !tarry Jeffery on the
guitar, Robert Jeffery on (he ban-
jo,Bill Rohde on the violin, accom-
panied by Mrs. Reg Hodgert on the
piano played several numbers at the
appreciation night for Dolores Shap -
ton Saturday evening at the R.E.
Pooley Legion Hall, Exeter.
Mrs. Brian Sullivan of near Dundas
spent the week end with her parents
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stewart.
=Little Miss Lesley Baxter of Mit-
chell spent the weekend with her
grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Duncan.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ballantyne,
Deanne, Cheryl and d Jayne and Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne were
guestsat the wedding of Peter French
and Monica McIntyre at the Army
Base at Watertown, New York,
Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Reg Hodgert have
moved to their home in Exeter.
Sunday School anniversary
The call to worship was given by
Tom Passmore. Mrs. Dave Passmore
superintendent read the scripture
John 9:1-9. Patrick Jeffery led in
prayer. The choir sang several
numbers under the leadership of Mrs.
Rick Parker accompanied on the
organ by Miss Agnes Bray.
Mrs. Passmore introduced Ila
Mathers who was in charge of "Kids
On The Block" puppet troupe. Others
who assisted were Arnold Mathers,
Heather Buchanan, Diane Kirton and
Margaret Stewart. It was a very in-
teresting presentation.
Tom Passmore and Patrick Jeffery
received the offering.
After the service all retired to the
basement for lunch and fellowship.
Next Sunday June 28 is Min -mile
anniversary at 11 a.m. There wiH be
no services. -at Thames Road.

Four young people
join. Hibbert church

Miss Debbie Iloekstra led the wor-
ship service Sunday at the liibbert
United Church with a good crowd in
attendance. Rev. Bert Daynard was
in charge of the communion service
when four young people joined the
church.
' There were Joan Kerslake. Debbie
McLeod, Jenny . Fuller and Kip
Daynard. During the service the Sun-
day School teachers made a presen-
tation to the children, those under five
receiving recognition from their Sun-
day School teacher Gwen Harburn
. were. Adam Bennesies. Brett Dear-
ing. Eric Scott and Tim Kemp.
In the Primary class Gregory Dear-
ing. Casey Kemp, Melissa Dearing
and Karla Bennewies received
recognition from their teacher Sandra
Kemp.
In the Junior class. Anne Taylor,
Anne Kerslake. Gerald Kerslake and
Scott Kemp received recognition
from their teachers Nancy Dearing
and Linda Euston.
Senior pupils. Joan kerslake, Joyce
Tell and -Pauline Fell received
recognition from their Sunday School
teacher Carol Bennewies.
AA very good _crowd attended the
ham and strawberry supper at the
Hibbert United Church. Wednesday
evening.

Near Gideon history
at Cromarty church

Two representatives of the Gideon
Society. Donald Jolly and Earl Desch
conducted the service in Cromarty
Presbyterian Church on Sunday mor-
ning. Mr. Desch. speaking on the
history of the Gideon. said that they
are working. in 136 countries.
The Canadian branch was organiz-
ed in 1911 and now has 3500 members.
Besides giving new testatments 10
Grade5 students and placing bibles
.in hotels and hospitals, they give a
white testament to graduating nurses.
Mr. ,lolly preached the sermon bas-
ed on Isaiah 40:8 and llebrews 4:12.
The choir sang Footprints of ,!esus.
Following the church service.
parents and friends were invited to
the closing programme of the Sunday
School. They were welcomed by
superintendent. Alice Gardiner and a
welcoming solo was sung by
Kimberley Bertens.
A skit. based on the story of Peter
and John healing the lame man at the
Temple gate was presented with
Adam Miller as Peter. Trevor Elliot(
as John. and Lisa Pullman and Car -
rah Templeman at the gate.
Chrissie Miller,• LariJo Gardiner
and Julie Marlyn recited the twenty-
third psalm and sang Jesus Called
Them One by One. which named the
twelve disciples. The senior class
presented a skit with Christopher
Scott as Noiah. Steven Pullman as his
son. Sherrand Leanne Gardiner.
Sherri Elliott, Sarah Elliott and
Michelle Marlyn as Noah's
neighbours. This teacher. Eva Laing
explained what the class had learned
this year.
The anniversary service for
Cromarty Presbyterian Church WiJI
be held next Sunday at 11 a.m. with
Mrs. Lucie Milne of Mitchell as guest
speaker.
A very successful strawberry sup-
per was held on Wednesday night
under the convenership of Alice
Gardiner.
GRADUATE - Paul D. Prekup
of St. Marys graduated on Moy 15
from Ridgetown College of
Agricultural Technology with a
diploma in agricultural produc-
tion management. Mr. Prekup is
the son of John and Laura
Prekup, and the grandson of
Julio Prekup and Sarah Hoyter of
Lucan. He hos taken o sales posi-
tion with Waterloo County Co-op.
