Here is the best practise game 1
know for learning feel, and this
business of putting is almost entirely
feel. This drill teaches you to judge
distance.
First, try a 25 foot uphill putt about
ten times. memorize the feel and
firmness of that uphill stroke. Now try
the same putt coming back downhill
stroking the ball with the same iden-
tical firmness and solidness you ap-
plied going uphill. See how far the
balls scoot past the hole.
You've had your first and most im-
portant lesson in judging speed.
Repeat the drill from shorter
distances - 20 feet, 15 feet, 5 feet.
Putt uphill first, then downhill. with
the same firmness of stroke. Go
through the various putts again, only
this time putt downhill first. then
uphill. See how far short you leave the
uphill putts.
Good golfing instinct can be
developed; feet can be taught. This
drill proves it.
