Nulty GuHy in Addiction Prevention
In an attempt to bring a worthwhile
cause to the attention of the public,
Hully Gully has joined forces with the
Canadian Institute for the Prevention
of Addiction (C.I.P.A. t for the Cana-
dian National Motocross
Championships.
The C.I.P.A. is a high profile drug
awareness program which promotes
abstinence from the usage of drugs',
alcohol and tobacco by educating
students from a mobile facility. From
this mobile unit, trained athletes from
the fields of motocross and
automobile racing, marathon runn-
ing, and other sports, demonstrate
their talents, showing the alternative
to addictives: thus the term "Natural
High".
The C.I.P.A. originates from
Chatham, but has just opened an of-
fice in London and will be highly visi-
ble at the National Motocross Cham-
pionships June 20 and 21 at Hully Gul-
ly in Varna.
Race promoter Chuck Collins feels
that the addition of the C.I.P.A. into
the Hully Gully fold is an excellent op-
portunity to promote the fun family
atmosphere present at tinily Gully.
Even a thunderstorm has to run
from the "Honda Hurricane", not the
street bike, but the red storm cooked
up by Hully Gully Honda riders Kevin
Moore, Alan Strickert ' and Dave
Andrews.
Expert rider Kevin Moore made a
clean sweep of the 125 cc class and
dusted all other competitors in the 250
class at the May 31st motocross races
held at Hully Gully.
Alan Strickert also plaeed first in
both motos in the Senior 125 class.
Local rider Dave Andrews, on yet
another Honda finished in the First
moto and 2nd in the second mato,
good enough for First overall in the Jr.
125B class.
Watch out for the real storm to
return June 13 when motocross
returns to Hully Gully, •

No Abby's break was caused by a
broken line, but that fact was disputed
by Ilamather. He said, "Il was sheer
neglect on the part of the groom,
trainer and driver Ron Waples. The
line was not broken, but was never
hooked into the buckle."
Ilamather added. "I think we had
a good shot at winningjhat one. The
way she warmed up it looked like
another win."

ty/Safe Boating Week and The Cana-
dian Red Cross Society reminds all
water sports enthusiasts mixing
water'and alcohol can get you in over
your head - permanently.
Boaters in particular should
remember that the tough changes

boating as a serious an offence as im-
paired driving. Refusing to provide a
breath sample in either a motor vehi-

Red Cross has been involved in
water safety education for more than
40 years and reminds all water sports
participants that water and alcohol
