STAN PRESZCATOR The 136th anniversary was held at Zion United Church Sunday. Rev. Robert S. Hiltz a former minister for the Crediton, Shipka and Exeter Main Street charge was guest speaker. The junior choir from Stephen Cen- tral School sang many beautiful songs under the leadership of Mrs. Marlene Thornton and Miss Diane Rath. Mrs. Thornton also sang a solo titled "He". The sermon topic was taken from Ezra 7:6-13, II Timothy 4:1-16, and Luke 22:31-38 titled "Are You Ready?" Centralia SS will celebrate By Mrs. TOM KOOY The Sunday school picnic at the United Church Sunday following the morning service began with a pot luck dinner followed by games for young and old and enjoyed by all present. Next Sunday June 7 the Sunday school anniversary will be held at the United Church in -Centralia at 11:15. It will be a joint service with Zion West. Awards will be presented to S.S. pupils at this service. Special music at the service when the speaker will be Rev. Deborah Carter. When the Girl Guides met Thurs- day evening Tena Gibson received her all around cord which is the ---highest-honour .a_g nide can receive and Mary Walker was presented with a five year pin as a Brownie leader. • At Reegan's Inn. May 25 when the seniors gathered the prizes were won by Mary Meikle, Ilene Pullman, Margaret Carter. Tom Kooy and Joe Carter. Following dinner our cook, Carol Mills donated and served a lovely free dessert to everyone pre- sent. Next party is June 8. Sunday dinner guests with Tom and I following anniversary services at St. Patricks Anglican Church, Saint- sbury were Helen MacDonald, Harry and Marian Noels, Lucan, Betty Sutherland, Ilderton, Jack Dickens, Exeter and Howard Dolan, Watford. A very enjoyable time was spent Sunday at a family gathering at the home of Mr.. and Mrs. Doug Theander, London when they enter- tained in honour of the 50th wedding anniversary of Doug's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Theander, 'Huron Park. They had dinner at the Seven Dwarfs. Congratulations Hugo and Irene. Mr. and Mrs. Borden Smyth spent a few days last week at Wheeling, West Virginia. Our sympathy is extended to the family of the late Percy Price of Huron Park. He was an employee of Dashwood Industries and passed • away suddenly at work, Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Brent Caslick and family_spent theweekend with their parents in the Cargill area. A delicious pot luck lunch was held after services and a time of fellowship with former members and friends.. Thanks to all who took part and made it a day to remember. Camp Bimini : There are still some staff needed at Camp Bimini this summer. Head cook - July 9-11 and 23-25 (two full days, one breakfast each week). There will -be training one day during June 22-24. Counsellors -in -training -15 year old boys. Assistant Director - July 19-25. Vacation Bible school: "Growing God's Way in the Sonshine Patch" will be held August 17-21. All children are welcome to come to this week of learning and .fun. Volunteers are needed to teach again this summer. Please call Rev. Brian and Mary Elder as soon as possible. Teachers books are available now for those in- terested in looking at them. Services during the month of June will be: June 7 regular service at 10 a.m., June 14 sacrament of Holy Com- munion (10 a.m.) June 21 Children's Day (10:30 a.m.) June 28 Cemetery Decoration Service (10 a.m.). In hospital at South Huron in Exeter are Mrs. Helen Ratz and Mrs. Alma Schwartz. Mrs. Vera Bullock celebrated her 82nd birthday May 25. Happy birth- day Vera. He is the son of Stephen and Mary Ellen Gingerich of Zurich and husband of Lois James Gingerich. He will be serving with The Missionary Church of Canada. Former pastor back for visit Sy MRS. HUGH MORENZ Guests Saturday evening with Ross and Evelyn Pickering were Rev. and Mrs. Robert Hilts, of Sundridge, near North Bay. Rev. Hiltz was guest minister at Crediton United on May 31 for their anniversary. Many years ago Rev. Hiltz was minister here at a three-point cllarge of Exeter, Crediton and Shipka United. The Shipka church closed in 1963 and the red church in Crediton burned down and the congregation amalgamated with the present United Church in Crediton. About 20 congregational friends from Shipka and Crediton gathered Saturday evening with Ross and Evelyn and Rev. and Mfrs. Hiltz. Betty and Bruce Shelley and daughter, Llsa of- Campbellford visited a few days last week with Don and Mabel Fraser. Joining the fami- ly for the weekend was Karen Guen- ther of London.
