T -A photo Ag members attend events Roy Pepper, District Director for Huron Perth District 8, attended meetings recently of the Ontario Association of Agricultural Societies. The executive of the OAAS, the direc- tors and homecraft representatives of the 15 districts from across Ontario met at the Royal York, Toronto. Roy is on the convention committee and display committee who also had meetings at that time. O.A.A.S. president Kevin Ryan, Charlton conducted the business ses- sions. The agenda included a report of the convention committee, telling of early plans for the 19i convention. The theme will be "Goals and Vi- sions", and the committee is open for suggestions for workshop topics. The "Production Development Assistance Initiative" committee reported on their meeting at the Canadian Association of Exhibitions Convention at Quebec. The Govern- ment Liason Committee will be holding meetings across Southern On- tario regarding the P.D.A.I. Recently one of these meetings was held in Melbourne and local members attending were: Roy Pepper, Mores Shapton, Gwen Coward; Exeter, Leo Hoffman; Zurich; Ken Scheerer, Floyd Willows, Stratford; Gerry and Hazel McIntosh, Milverton. All agricultural societies are urged to attend one of these meetings regardless of their size, to learn and add input to the new system for grants which is being established by the Agriculture Canada4 Homecraft president, Dolores Shapton conducted sessions for the llomecraft Representatives, dealing with fair topics. The fairs and exhibi- tions brochures containing informa- tion on all Ontario fairs by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food will he released by the beginning of June. Planning; a Vacation? Plans are under way for our celebrations in June. Nursing Home Week and our first anniversary coincide in the third week of June. Watch for more details in coming weeks. Tickets on a ripple afghan are available from the Villa. Proceeds from this draw will go to help the Alzheimer Society. The afghan is on display at the Villa. Birthday greetings last week to Theada Bruce and Ray Francis. Our worship service on Wednesday was conducted by Rev. Carter from the Centralia United Church.
